1. Isn't it one of those grab rail things for old people? Only spotting in white or chrome though.
2.
It's been serviced with the aid of john at champ electronics and we've had it on the bench doing 420W and is good to go, although you might wanna invest in some cooling since it really runs the valves hot. It has a brand new octet of kt100's
Only just noticed this. 420 duuude.
3. I think it is pretty much the Vintage in a deeper rather than wider form, not made wide for valve heads, which would have suited me better really, see the valve head overhanging. The Ashdown cab is matching the Peacemaker head I have, from before Ashdown moved guitar amp making to Hayden, it is a heavy ply UK made 4x12 loaded with now discontinued silver series Celestions, they are similar to Vintage 30s with a little less harshness and slightly more power handling, ideal for my purpose, plus it looks pretty badass along with the other stuff.
4. Good thing guitarists haven't kept up with speaker tech and polar response, if they did, I wouldn't be able to stand off axis and not have my ears battered. I've had ER20s since I started playing in bands, my hearing is pretty good.
5. I'd guess that is an SVT rig. VT bass and a fairly transparent cab should get you close with that head. PLaying hard and possibly a bridge pickup though. Playing very hard mostly, Newstead's technique came from not having an amp so needing all his volume acoustically.
6.
Hmm if that's the case then it sounds like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this one.
They can limit the quota, forcing other countries to invest in infrastructure, whilst they stockpile. Once all the investment is made and the other countries are producing, they can dump their stockpile on the market, ruin prices, all the investors are screwed and the investment ruined, and cause some serious economic turmoil everywhere, about then they start invading. Or start the process again for fun.
7. Did you just copy that straight out of Umph's thread where I posted it?
8. If you aren't clipping the Markbass, it probably won't make much odds. Double power is 3db. Probably better off adding 3db of compression if you are clipping.
9. The fun part is America's war tech needs rare earths to work. They had to buy the titanium for the Blackbird from Russia via the grey market which is quite funny.
10. Neodymium is just the example that affects magnets and is easy to talk about, the Chinese clampdown is across loads of rare earths, and like neodymium they've cornered the market over a period of time by undercutting, stuff that has more esoteric uses that making magnets out of. I don't know if the clampdown includes export of products containing rare earths, that would make a sort of economic sense as suddenly you could only buy technological products from China, and it would keep everywhere else struggling to produce technology competitively. When I say 'stopping of supply' I don't mean China's is totally stopping supplying the world, I mean people using the stuff suddenly have their supply stopped, because demand is elsewhere, in the scheme of things, 40 year obsolete technology used only for indulgence is not a priority use.
11. Just occurred that the special coatings on some valve gubbins involves rare earth elements. Are they going to be affected by the sudden stopping of supply thing, in the nearish future? Tiny amounts, but if you can't get it, you are stuck, although I assume there are stockpiles of each step of the way to a working valve.
12.
I think because it leads to
I have some pics of more modern ones you can slide paper under too, from when I was fitting those scratchplates I made.
13. There's all sorts of mojo with the colour of the writing and date codes and such. I think a bunch of it is down to how well you list them. And how likely they are to not be spent.
14. Just ran the whole lot with my tuned to A bass, which I haven't touched in ages... boner. Might have to go upset an open mic with some Sunn O))) rip off drone.
15. Rack stuff at the bottom of the stack, be a rebel.

17. Looks like whole bridge has lifted. Have yo replace it with one of my custom modified rickenfaker bridges.
18. Sounds like you are doing things backward. There is no advantage to isobaric mounting stuff, so forget that right away, it wins you all the wieght of twice as many speakers as you need for the max spl and sensitivity it gets you. Firstly, why have you picked 10s, when you already have a 15" hole? Ports and bass reflex tubes are the same thing, so you are removing one and putting it back again. All you really need to do is modify the tuning of the existing one, either by length of area.

21. The peals with a valve in don't do the same thing, because it is the power valves that do the valve amp thing. However a pedal designed to emulate the valve thing, such as the VT Bass will do it.
22. Marshall Drivemaster (old black one) and an MXR Blue box for the Oxford?
23. I think Mo Clifton is about the lightweight ergonomic back friendly thing. I recall Bassbod mentioning he had a similar story to the OP's guy.
24. When you say 'sofa' do you mean 'uncle's loft'?
25. Suck it out with the hoover nozzle, taking care not to pull out the whole cone.
