Guitar centre are claiming that their price is the delivered price (including duty) and that there are no fees to pay on delivery. Presumably they are included in the price.
Its nothign to do with them, its HMRC nailing you for tax and duty.

What's the most you've paid for an amp service?
Mr. Foxen replied to Mr. Foxen's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've paid £150 for a total rebuild of an old dirty trashed amp, and £120 to lose a slight hum and revlave with valves I supplied (involved full recap and new sockets). I always supply a lengthy list of demands, so generally I can see the time that goes into it. -
Other drummer wasn't especially inclined to be helpful, but said hired kit, so can have for the hire cost. Drummer was skint, so guitarist says he'll pay if drummer does all the rest of the carrying for him. Drummer assumes position at this kit provided by the generosity of several people who already think he is a prick, plays a roll across the drums, looks at me as says "Sounds a bit sh*t doesn't it?" whereupon I call him a prick too. Then we play the gig, promoter refuses to pay us because were are all pricks, and everyone quits the band cause we don't want to be in a band with that drummer any more.

Those tuners are really typical of Jap basses. Could easily have bought jap tuners though.

I got picked up by the drummer and the driver from work on the way to a gig. Since I'm the reliable one, I carry backup most forgettable stuff, like leads and stuff (set in my pedal case, and a set in my gig bag). Stuck my head in the back, checked my amps and cabs and pedals were there, had my bass with me. On the journey, couldn't shake off an uncomfortable feeling, put it down to nerves, first gig outside the South West, and current lady plan was going to be there. Lugged all my stuff up the stairs, set up, sounding thunderously massive, fully felt better. Looked around at drummer stood by his carpet with his drum positions marked out looking about, I have to wait for him to do his thing to get proper levels. However there is no drum kit. "Statick, where are your drums?" "I forgot to put them in the van." "You should probably go an be really nice to that drummer to whom you refused to lend your drums."

Since I have a bit of an interest in Sound City amps at this point, a dude got in touch with me about selling his. He said he paid £500 for a full overhaul, that seemed loads, for an amp that might make that if you are lucky. Might have to start learning this amp fixing faster and better.

I think the lacquer cracks round the edge of the fret, and sweat is drawn underneath by capillary action. -
Bass tech's/luthiers near Gloucestershire
Mr. Foxen replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Repairs and Technical
He works out of Mickleburgh music in Stoles Croft, basically very close to the center. I'm in Greenbank/Easton. If it is dead simple, I can do it, Eltham is known as The Wizard though. -

Thought he's spotted a hook hand lady at 1.47, but it was a sparkly bit on a black glove. -
Bass tech's/luthiers near Gloucestershire
Mr. Foxen replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Repairs and Technical
Various people in Bristol, depending on what wants doing. Eltham Jones is very good, and I'm going to be working with him shortly, so I can pass stuff on if you can't make the days when he is about (as he splits time between various places). -
Not sure where to put this, but I won it on ebay, and the ebay forum should be where I've got most BC karma from posting all the goodies I can't buy myself. Anyway, won a valve head (I'm running short on them) but its collect only and he isn't up for a courier collecting. So can anyone nearby pick this up, pack it and have my courier pick it up? Or happen to be passing Bristol and want a cup of tea and bass nerding.

He pulled it himself (listing vanishes if ebay do it), meaning had to cancel all bids first. And most of the bids were a ton of shill bids by a 0 feedback bidder, and one by me, I bid right away so he couldn't edit his crappy listing. Maybe he got an off ebay offer, or found he couldn't edit it, so pulled it.

Well, I pretty much don't put 'selling for a friend' in my auctions, unless I want to say how great it is, to the extent I need to say why I'm not keeping it.
Why do people sell things for their 'friends'? Why don't their 'friends' sell it for themselves?
I sell stuff for friends because my friends have dayjobs an can't be dealing with all the associated stuff. Plus I know more about everything than everyone, so makes it a lot easier for me to answer questions, unlike this guy.

Has the same tuners as my CMI one. Shouldn't last long with the R word in there. I also message telling him it wasn't a real one. Funny how he prefers believing the person who told him its a real one.

No idea, they haven't given me my parcel. When they give me an itemised invoice, I'll see what they bothered doing.
