    Aria PEB65

Yeah the saddles seem pretty well set to me…. to get the scale down to 32 they would have to be all the way forward. I’ll measure to the 12th, cheers for that.

Yeah, I had a Les Paul a few years back, I definitely prefer the ergonomics of this.

I’m a bit of an Aria fan, especially the MIJ & MIK stuff…. love my Integra 5. So I just picked this (tired and dirty) Korean PEB65…. just before starting the work on it, I’ve discovered it’s what appears to be Medium scale… 32.5 nut to saddles? Odd measurement? Anyway, beautiful arched top, flame maple I think, trans blue with binding. Nicely carved and ergonomic, and a nice weight. Active too…. Which I wasn’t expecting. Watch this space
  4. I’ve had few… for no particular reason, just fancied them at the time. MIJ Fender Marcus miller Jazz was a stunner, so good I had 3! Why… no idea. Now, I have one…. A Squier Frank Bello jazz…. and I don’t even like Anthrax…. I just fancied butchering it and modding it to death, so it doesn’t bare any resemblance to the original sig version at all now. Great bass, I play it most days actually.
  5. “Service? It’s nearly 20yrs old mate, it needs new f****** pots and fans mate, then it’ll last another 20yrs” Always good to hear it like it is, from a fellow northerner 😉. I’ve had Mark Bass, Trace, Fender, TC etc…. but none of them ever sounded as good as my old ABM rig from years ago. So that’s why I wanted another. This one came up at a great price, needing some love, which it’s now getting. Can’t wait to hear it.
  6. Thanks for sharing your story 🙂 Great basses those, I tried one years ago in Sound Control and loved it, but I was looking for a Stingray at the time. Very nice bass.
  7. Don’t we all!
  8. All the basses you’ll ever need right there.
  9. Works for me…. I said it was yours
  10. And you’ll find yourself in a Premier Inn staring at the 11th bass you’ve bought in 6 months, wondering how you’ll get it past the Mrs tomorrow. Unlike myself of course
  11. Just a shout out to Dave Green and everyone at Ashdown. I took my (tired) EVO II 500 in for a service, pots and fans…. lovey, down to earth, friendly place, proper old school Amp shop. Made me feel all nostalgic for big heavy bass amps, like the old days. Proper job.
  12. Oh I dunno, mine was a ‘70s Columbus Jazz, I was glad to see the back of it.
  13. Most important…… Take your time in the search… A: it’s half the fun B: it’s not the best idea to buy the first “shiny” thing you see. 👍🏻
  14. There’s really no exact answer I’m afraid. The “which bass should I buy” conundrum is a difficult one to answer and one that only you can I’m afraid. Play as many basses as you can in stores and pick the one you like the look, feel and sound of most. Anything by Yamaha is great. The BB series are particularly good at all price points. Sire, you can’t go wrong, they’re definitely the “in thing” at the moment in terms of value and quality…. ….but honestly it’s endless. For 5/600 quid you can get a superb used bass, and as the years of playing bass go on, your taste and requirements will change, so something versatile is always good, personally I’d stick to 4 strings for now, and, re-sale value is worth thinking about too, because if you’re on here, it’s highly likely that you’ll get hooked on buying/selling/trading gear. Good luck
  15. I’ve always found having a ‘selection’ of instruments on stands and clearly on show really irritating and unnecessary. A bit like displaying trophies….. “look what I’ve got” type of thing, especially as literally nobody cares. Our guitarist has this kind of multi guitar carousel kind of thing? Clearly displaying all his lovely guitars, much to our amusement, especially as it’s nearly fallen over a couple of times.
  16. That’s a shame We go to some gigs together, we have enough in common to share similar tastes. It’s a nice thing to do with your other half.
  17. I’m not actually playing bass on this…. I’m the singer/songwriter/guitarist…. recorded for BBC introducing.
  18. I don’t know if I like them or not, but we’ve got tickets to see them in Manchester. Must remember to take my bobble hat.
  19. My first bass, in 1980, nice example that.
  20. Bartolini MK1s?
  21. Can’t go wrong….. they’re fantastic instruments
  22. Mmmmm…. Yeah, I’m thinking the same
  23. Having said 2, before, I’ve only ever used one, I’ve never needed the spare, ever. 100s of rock gigs, clanking the strings pretty hard, I’ve never broken a string once. Of course, the day I leave the spare at home is the day I break that string.
  24. Anyone had one? Any good? I have the opportunity to buy an MLB1, but you don’t see them around often…. just wondering if anyone has any experience with one?
