*SOLD*Gallien Krueger 1001RB-ii & Korg Pitchblack Pro. £380 (+shipping) https://www.gallien-krueger.com/1001-rb-specs https://www.korg.com/uk/products/tuners/pitchblack_pro/page_1.php Having tried this in a doomed attempt to end my 30 odd year love affair with Trace Elliot it’s now time to move it on. Even the hypnotic suggestion of the Pitchblack Pro’s light show can’t change me. Old dog, new tricks and all that. GK tone and a good amount of solid state power (700W+50W @ 4ohm - biamp / 480W @ 8ohm). Very good condition. Comes fitted in a shallow rack. Collection would be good or Courier at cost.

CE-2B This item was made in April-1987 Had it since new. Doesn't work with a battery anymore but works fine with a power supply...still got the box as well.

Yup, indeed i've woken up in Lanark, also Helensburgh and Balloch. I've boarded the train in Glasgow and woke up on the other side of the platform after going round the Hamilton circle back into the town.

'Vintage' Warwick (82 - 96); neck / relief / truss rod issue
DrDrill replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
Could be. But I reckon it's just a less stable neck and the old aluminium one way rod doesn't have the oomph to flex it. The alu rod adjuster comes to a dead stop unless you're prepared to malky it (which i'm not) and the steel rod adjusts easy peasy. My Ltd Edition Streamer which is the same age and has a wenge/thin maple 5 piece neck, as opposed to the more normal Maple/thin wenge 5 piece is fine. -
'Vintage' Warwick (82 - 96); neck / relief / truss rod issue
DrDrill replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
Update.Tried to shim it, didn't work. I replaced the truss rod. The £8 rod was just over 1mm too thick so with some judicious use of a file and a liberal coating of aircraft grease I now have a truss rod that actually influences the chunk of maple that is the neck. Although initially the neck bow was getting worse 'cos i'd used the 2 way rod and was turning lefty tighty which was the original Warwick truss rod convention DOH! In the mean time however i've gone all retro and have become rather attached to the mellow PASSIVE tones of my Limelight Jazz 😱 (run through a dUg DP-3X ) -
Had a Wal i didn't get on with, bought it for £400 and sold it for £450! so can't complain and a Fender Sting signature pbass which I hated for no particular rational reason.

Modern compact cab recommendations or an old Trace Head

Loud enough to drown out The XFactor in every house in a 5 mile radius from the gig is an acceptable level I feel. -
Modern compact cab recommendations or an old Trace Head
DrDrill replied to The Twickerman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Trace AH300SMX or Vtype600H and one or two Vanderkley 210s for me. Used to have an Ashdown mini48 which also sounded epic with the Trace. -
'Vintage' Warwick (82 - 96); neck / relief / truss rod issue
DrDrill replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
I've now got exactly the same problem with my old streamer, clunk and all, Warwick want 80Euros for a new truss rod so i've ordered a couple of 630mm £8 stainless truss rods, single and dual action to see what happens, i've also got some shim from work and if none of that fixes the issue i'll make a new rod and see what happens. Trust me i'm an engineer...now where's ma hammer!! -
Trace Elliot AH250 amp head - keeps cutting out!
DrDrill replied to zephead's topic in Repairs and Technical
Also with the power off. Take your lead and push the jack plug in and out of ALL the sockets on the amp a few times to clean them. Years ago I had an intermittent fault on mine for months that no one could fix and i discovered this snippet on t’interweb somewhere and i’ve had no problems since.- 9 replies
Wunjo Guitars Denmark St in London and the Great British Bass Lounge in Manchester are the distributors and might stock them Last Scottish shop was when i bought mine from Sound Control back in 89. Probably better buying a 2nd hand 80's one if you can get it. I had a Streamer II for few months as a loan while waiting on my Thumb bass and both are excelent with fantastic necks. Dave
Good advice. I bought my first in Sound Control in '89 as well.....and I still have it

I've shaved my LX neck down, so it's eminently doable.
