1. Bought a bass from Jay advertised on here. Really easy with great updates and quick postage. Thanks! Andy
2.
got batteries in your camera?
Bought the Jake p/j 5 string from Jassbass on the for sale board. Got the kids to myself tonight so even playing it is having to wait but I will get pics when I can
3. 'Out for delivery.' Three of the sweetest words in the English language.
4. Xmas cash burning a hole? Bump!
5. Well, the gig that was to be filmed got cancelled due to a flooded in drummer. I'll have to wait until the new year to get some footage now. Bah!
6. Gig cancelled so buy my cab to cheer me up type bump.
7.
Wow. Having heard a G3 Compact recently I can have a good guess at how that rig must sound. However, my OCD wouldn't allow two different cab widths in my rig!
On it's own the G3 sounds (to me) tighter than the g2 but it doesn't move as much air. Together they have great presence without needing to crank it. The bank balance trumped the width ocd on this occasion though!
8. So last night I finally got to gig my new G3 compact with my G2. I've never had any lack of volume with the G2 but always gigged it with a hydrive 1x12 for extra 'width' to the sound. However, the two barefaced cabs together was a step up again. Fat, clear and great dispersion with the added bonus of the g3 at ear height sounded fantastic. Can't wait until the new speaker has properly broken in either, it can only get better. For the record, the whole rig was limelight jazz with neck pup full and bridge on about 30%, tone slightly rolled off. Tonehammer 500 set almost flat, slight low mid boost and the two BF cabs. No video unfortunately (hopefully get some at next week's gig in Altrincham) but I did manage a quick phone pic. 9.
We had tickets to see them when Patrick hurt his shoulder and they cancelled the whole European leg of their tour. Never rescheduled. Dave Grohl broke his bloody leg and came back and performed! Black Keys music, great, attitude, pish!
You didn't miss much. The music was definitely not great.
10.
I'm a massive Ryan Adams fan and have seen him loads of times, in fact two of the greatest gigs I've ever seen have been him. However I saw him earlier this year too (at Wolves Civic) and was unimpressed. Stodgy sound, boring new material, and other than a mock sword fight with his guitarist, one of those gigs I was willing to hurry up and end so I could go home.
Same as. Saw him on the Gold tour in 2001 and eagerly booked tickets for the next time around telling all my mates it would be unmissable. We went. Ryan put in one of his mumbling, couldn't care less performances and I was so embarrassed I've never been to see him since. The Black Keys in Manchester a couple of years ago were also awful. Spent the first couple of songs thinking 'is it me being a picky musician type or is the drummer way off?' Then everyone we were with asked me the same question. He was right out of time, varying wildly during songs. If you're going to be a one guitar and drums band then I'd think that being tight is even more essential.
11. Price reduction bump.
12. Some interest bit nothing definite type bump.
13. Most non-Mancunians do Jassbass!
14. We bought Alto trusonic speakers a few years ago and they're great. Not in the same class as the top top end stuff but plenty good enough for pub gigs and great value for money. We have 4 of the 12" active tops and use 2 as monitors, which gives us a bit of redundancy should a top go. Added the active 15" sub last summer for a few bigger gigs and am very pleased with that too. Generally just use it for kick and a back line bleed in bigger venues.
15.
Interesting, at the time I enquired about a dot and bound neck Mark said he couldn't do it.
He gave me the impression it would be significantly (and possibly prohibitively) more costly. Didn't follow up on how much exactly though. Would love to see pics of one.
16. No probs, I see you're pretty local. You'd be welcome to drop in for a brew and to try it out with no pressure to buy. Andy
17. Hi Tobie, Haven't weighed it myself but Thomann say 15.6 kg. It's a comfortable one hand carry for me and I'm no strongman! Good handle too. Full specs here https://m.thomann.de/gb/hartke_hx112_hydrive.htm
18. Hartke Hydrive 1x12 300w cab. Switchable between 4 and 8 ohms - this is great for using as part of a modular rig. It also has a switchable high boost cut. The box itself is tiny and pretty lightweight. These cabs are great and seriously underrated. I've used it solo or paired with a Barefaced compact for pub gigs and it's more than held it's own in both situations. It's a great cab and only going because I've had the opportunity to buy a matching Barefaced. GAS is a terrible thing! Used lightly for the last few years. The usual scuffs to corner protectors where they have done their job. One small tolex rip on the front top edge and one corner protector that is a bit dented with the tolex behind it coming away slightly. I've tried to show this accurately in the pics. I'm based in Sale, South Manchester and would very much prefer collection. Can meet up within reasonable distance or buyer to arrange courier. No trades thanks. Priced (IMHO) [s]fairly[/s] as a serious bargain at [s]£175[/s] [s]£150[/s] £130.
19. Dammit! Teach me to have an early night!
20. I have to drive pretty much past the front door on my way to/from work. It's a bloody marvel I'm not miles poorer! I've bought a bass, practice amp and other bits from Drew and it's always been great service. Happy to let me try every toy in the shop and never even glanced at his watch.
21. Love my trib L2500. I a/b-ed it with the USA version when buying and it was so close that I couldn't justify the extra few hundred quid. There's one in the for sale section for £300 at the mo, that's just ridiculously cheap.
22.
I'm getting VERY close. Black S212 with Fawn (Fender Tweedish colour) frame and Oxblood cloth
Oh good, that means there'll be a 2nd hand one near me for sale in about 6 months!
