  1. That’s beautiful.
  2. Ooh a say that blue competition stripe Mustang would definitely be on my GAS list too. Alongside a black Gibson Thunderbird, and a 1957/58 style P bass in sunburst/maple and gold pickguard. Mmm. Not a hope in hell of getting any of them but it’s nice to wish.
  3. I find the tension on the Labellas really nice but then I also use slightly heavier gauge strings generally - 105-45 on long scales. My mustang is currently wearing d’addario roundwounds, medium scale, 110-50 gauge which when combined with the shorter scale actually feel really comfortable. It had very light gauge strings on when I bought it - 95s or something - but I couldn’t really dig in on those. Sorry thanks just muddied the waters hasn’t it! Its definitely worth trying the Labella mustang flats as they’re designed with that bass in mind, and they do feel and sound just right.
  4. I know two blokes who got done for stealing a calendar. They got six months each.
  5. Yup I second the La Bella Mustang Flats. Cos mustangs are strung thru the body you need to have medium scale rather than short scale strings, and the La Bella Mustangs are designed perfectly for the job. They sound ace too.
  6. Good bits of kit these.
  7. Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue for sure. And from around that same late 80s era, Rachel Bolan from Skid Row was one cool looking dude.
  8. I’m not realistically expecting to get back gigging until next year. I was still taking bookings for dates in September just before lockdown when it all seemed a long way in the future. But realistically what is going to have changed by then? Infection rates may fall but as long as the disease is still around then the social distancing restrictions will be in place, venues will be struggling etc. How to even get a band together onstage socially distanced would be impossible for most of my gigs. Solo gigs outdoors at little summer events maybe. Im of the school of thought that a second peak and second lockdown will happen so I’m not making any plans just yet.
  9. Nope I never do that. I clean it properly whenever I restring it etc - im not into gunky basses. But unless I’ve been eating something messy I won’t typically wash my hands before playing.
  10. The 1970 Fender P bass I got for the princely sum of £575 in 1994 (tho I had to sell my pointy Charvel to buy it...) Also a 1994 Fender MIJ Strat I got for £200 in 2002. Still got them both.
  11. Brilliant basses - I think I missed out on this one at the time when Sibob beat me to it! I’ve found another since and absolutely love them.
  12. Alas due to problems with other kit I’m hanging on to this for now. Withdrawn from sale. Apologies.
  13. Julie's husband...
  14. Feed every AC/DC song into an AI bot and see what the result is? Why not eh. Sounds mostly like For Those About To Rock, but the lyrics are just a jumble. The opening riff is cool tho! https://loudwire.com/artificial-intelligence-bot-writes-ac-dc-song-great-balls/
  15. He must be absolutely massive for that T bird to be so small on him!
  16. Likewise. Love over Gold and Brothers in Arms were big albums when I was starting out playing and I’ve always loved them, but kept quiet about it. Ive played with a couple of cool musos over the last couple of years who openly love Dire Straits and I’m now not ashamed to admit I like them. Knopfler’s guitar playing rules.
  17. Great curtains! Ikeas finest. I’ve got the matching cushions.
  18. I can vouch for the GS410 being an incredible cab. Used one for 10 years and it’s still the best bass sound I’ve had, but far too heavy for me.
  19. It’s just a very weird key for me to sing - ie pretty low. We’d been doing it for years with me doing backing vocals and the whole middle section so I thought it would be plain sailing to do the rest of the song when it was suddenly needed. Didn’t suit my voice at all.
  20. If it wasn’t for the pandemic and lack of spare cash I’d hang on to it myself!
  21. Hello all, I’m moving on this Barefaced Big Twin 2 (Gen 3) that I only bought back in February from fellow BC’er 28mistertee. (I originally put it up for sale earlier during lockdown, but withdrew it thinking I’d need it - alas with no gigs on the cards I’ll be perfectly ok with my other existing kit, so.....) It’s a superb cab in fantastic condition, and I’ve done two gigs on it so far! Here it is in action in a blues gig with Ian Parker in February. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJHp5U4SXJo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KS48r68Khc These are brilliant cabs, the flagship of the Barefaced range, incredibly lightweight and powerful. I bought it as the best power / size / weight ratio I could find. It’s a 2x12 plus horn, with full details on the Barefaced website here: https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/Big-Twin-2.htm Its in very, very good condition and comes with a fitted Roqsolid cover. There is one very small ding in the bottom front edge which you’d have to look for to find - 28mistertee even provided me with two small pots of black touch-up paint supplied by Barefaced HQ that neither he nor me has bothered to use. I’ve tried to show this in a close up pic. Im looking to get back what I paid which was £775 (I can’t change the thread title price from £800 for some reason). Now, given it’s size I would much prefer collection from Leicester or meet up somewhere reasonably local, observing social distancing measures. With immaculate timing, Leicester is currently in an extended lockdown which means any collection / meet up would have to be after July 18, the date it is due to end. I’m hesitant to post this at present. Any questions, drop me a PM. NOW SOLD
  22. Whoa that’s quite something isn’t it! First time I’ve ever heard both versions. Mad innit.
