It is - I told him exactly what it was & exactly how these basses can be identified - but going by his footnote it (in so many words - "some Ebayer said it might be an Aria, but who knows?") plainly wasn't what he wanted to hear. F@ck knows why I bother! Jon.
Im aving a party to celebrate the collection and 500 sobs on the Ibby Anyone for a 70's Maya telecaster bass...in very nice condition???

  3.
I think you're probably right, but it's stiff to take £80 for a fingerboard fit after £135 for a set of strings. And I strung them up so tidy I don't want anybody unwinding them!
Have you stretched the strings or just tightened to tune??? If you Havent do so an retune....if you have I suggest you tweak the truss rod up a 1/2 turn then try again,if better but not perfect then tighten up a further bit at a time.DONT rush it though give the neck time to settle... Theres loads of how to tips on the net try Youtube

  6.
Shilled, got to be. Considering there are two other Hondos on at the moment - one with a ludicrous and desevedly ignored £500 BIN, and the other at £180 and running out this afternoon, this looks proper dodgy. You're hard-pushed to get 500 sovs for an Ibanez 2388B - just ask Tino. There's a decent bolt-neck Matsumoku project here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rickenbacker-Bass-Ja...y-/150524395000 Looks OK, the guy seems to believe what any random idiot tells him about it, though. 8.
Hi there, trying to find any info on these.I am always impulse buying any bass if I have spare cash or time to overhaul.Have these 2 I got no info on.First up is Corley J/P style bass.Guessing jap due to the neck profile nut measurement 44mm nut to 58mm at widest point same as aria SB's and its longer than my Sb700! 1220mm.Yowzer.34" scale, its also got 23 frets! Slightly neck heavy due to the massive fender style headstock, schaller 3d bridge and machine heads, think the bridge pup is a Di Marzio, not sure about the p type but both have been dipped to stop microphonics. One of the best jazz body profiles I have seen, very slim and nicely sculptured. Next is a les Paul Triumph style bass, made in Japan.Semi hollow body,30" scale, ultra low action, pick ups are like humbuckers,2 vol,2 tone and coil taps.Amazing big thumpy sound then coil tapped almost jazz style.Think its early seventies.Anyone any ides on either? Stuck it next to an aria and a jazz for an idea of size. Will load the Les paul ones on soon.Any info would be cool.
Best try Bassassassin......he knows all things Jap

  13.
Hi All, I'm after your usual good advice. I'm thinking of having my P bass refined after trying to 'relic' is like an absolute d***k head a couple of months ago. I originally went to Manchester Guitar Tech but he's booked up until into next year. He recomended Spectrum Guitar Finishes. I have received a quote of (including fitting of Seymour Duncan SPB-3) : To: completely strip old finish back to bare wood. £35.00 To: remove neck & all parts, wire in new pickup, refit parts etc. & carry out set up. £50.00 To: prepare & lacquer in 'Vintage White' nitro cellulose, flat & polish etc. £220.00 Other comments they have noted are: We are a U.K. company that has recently relocated to Spain. We would arrange courier collection from you, this costs £24.00 We would courier back to you using Fedex FREE OF CHARGE. Turn round time is 4 weeks (because of the cellulose) from the time we receive it. I would really appreciate your opinions on this one as I have never had such work done to my guitars. Thanks guys!
I'm thinking of having my P bass refined after trying to 'relic' is like an absolute d***k head a couple of months ago. Ebay it .........theres always another Di*KHeAD wanting a reliced P........and with the proceeds buy a better one here at a sensible price...Just an Idea Theres a couple of guys in Newcastle that do real good refins I will get you a number.....or if you fancy sending it to London theres Martin Clarke..HES THE NUTZZ From this..............................................to this...or vice versa..pretty EH

    Lemon Oil
Hi Chaps, Can anyone point me at a good 'on-line' source for Lemon Oil for cleaning and dressing my fret board? Looking for something that’s good quality, you guys know these things. Thanks Oggy
I use and always have used Sadolin.for the last 15 to 20 years...worktop oil.......apply sparingly and leave overnight and rub over with a soft cloth next morning its about 20 times cheaper than Dunlop and does just as good a job even possibly better.......if you want to colour the board just add a few drops of a preparatory wood dye to the sadolin and work in softly with fine gauge steel wool........removing any residue when dry by buffing with a clean lint free cloth and I use an old soft shoe brush...........never had one single problem Lemon oils are just a rip off

  19.
Hey, This is listed on eBay, but would like a quick sale, so I'll offer it to you chaps! Heres my eBay description.... Hi, Up for auction is my Ibanez ARC500NT custom. She's in mint condition and is deffinatly one of the more stunning guitars Ibanez have made. This guitar plays beautifully, and I personally particularly like the fact the neck flows seemlessly into the body really giving you full access to all the frets. The body is a Mahogany core with a beautiful carved quilted maple top, the neck has a rosewood finger board with a very nice series of artists inlays with a double binding round the sides. The neck is very smooth and plays brilliantly. The bridge is a Gibraltar 3 with a pair of Super 58 custom humbucking pickups. The body shape is a single cutaway with all gold hardware, the knobs are custom wood and she even has mother of pearl tuners. The body cavity cover at the rear is also mahogany, not plastic like most (even very high end) guitars. Shes a real beaut, I dont really want to sell her, but I'm a bassist by trade, and I'm trying to fund a new head for my rig. I will include a soft case with the guitar, its nothing major, but its keeps scratches and dust away! Im on 07912222127 to discuss and would like a quick sale, so give me a ring if you want! These are quite rare, and dont come up too ofter, they really do hold their own up against the heavy weights in the guitar world, i.e. PRS, les paul's etc. You will not be dissapointed with this! I also have a Marshall AS50R (acoustic amp) but this guitar sings through it. I will consider a deal for both if you want, again the amp is in as new condition. Thanks, Russ. Heres a list of its features as per the Ibanez website. Ibanez ARC500 Artist Electric Guitar Features: Mahogany single-cutaway body Artist style set neck 22 large frets Bound rosewood fretboard Gibraltar 3 bridge Dual Super 58 custom humbuckers Artist inlays Gold hardware No Trades please, just cash! £350 sees it walk away from me.... 23.
I've had a 1978 Jazz for about ten years now. The original body, in black, is absolutely horrible - very heavy and with a completely knackered finish (totally crazed and flaking). A few years ago a local luthier put a pretty good swamp ash aftermarket body on it and it plays very well now. But I'd like to source an alder sunburst body for it with a bit of relic'ing (not too much though - it's only a '78). I'm not sure Bravewood (if he's still going) would be willing to do a relatively small job like this - can anyone suggest an alternative UK source for such a thing? Thanks.
Dont suppose you fancy a 70's Matsumoko Jazz bass body controls scratchplate and pups??? I have no need of it ,its just sat in the loft doin nowt spectacular 55 posted

  25.
Hi Everyone, new to the forum, although being reading for around 12 months !! Finally taking the plunge and purchasing a bass. After many reviews etc.. i've decided to go for a Washburn T14 or Ibanez GSR200. There seems to be around £50 difference in price although its not a major issue. Is anyone able to tell me is there much of a difference between the 2? I'm a real novice so will be learning from scratch. Any advice is much appreciated ! Thanks, Mark.
Go to the shops and test them both or get someone off here maybe to assist you.ANYONE LOCAL???????.dont plump for the Ibanez without directly comparing them in hand.....Washburn have brought out some great guitars..... take the HB35S not rated on issue now has a great following and starting to command good money too... I love Ibbys and have several.....but you need to be happy with it ...whichever you finally choose Good Luck
