1.
Billy Gibbons has never worked at our local library, despite having read over 3 books. Neither has Dusty Gibbons.
Dusty Gibbons? Surely, you mean Dusty Beard?
2.
Although Brian de Palma was planning a movie based on her planned marriage to Mike Toesway.
I had to read that twice before the penny dropped! Well played, sir. By the way, did you know "You're so Vain" is actually about Irene Handl?
3.
Carly Simon was once engaged to Ziggy Marley, but broke it off as her married name would have been Carly Marley.
She also turned down Steve Harley for similar reasons.
4. Jasper Carrott was the original tuba player in ELO. He was sacked after he ate one of Roy Wood's chocolate HobNobs without asking first.
5. Pete Shelley has never fallen in love with someone he shouldn't of.
6. Jamie Oliver was/is drummer in a band called Scarlet Division. DJ Mark Ratcliffe has played in quite a few bands over the years and his ex-DJ-ing partner Marc "Lard" Riley started out playing in The Fall and later his own band, The Creepers.
7. I got 10/10. I only know number one because that's Andy Bell and I'm a big fan of his old band, Ride. I got the Warpaint one because I saw a clip of them at Glastonbury at the weekend on the telly. The last one was a complete quess as I loathe all four bands that are listed so I got 9/10, really!
8. Here's a excerpt from a recent interview where Brian and Roger talk about the current state of play with JD:- Do you still keep in touch with John Deacon? May: We don't, really. He doesn't want to. He wants to be private and in his own universe. Taylor: He's completely retired from any kind of social contact. Do you ever see or talk to him? Taylor: No, no. I think he's a little fragile and he just didn't want to know anything about talking to people in the music business or whatever. That's fair enough. We respect that. May: He still keeps an eye on the finances, though. John Deacon is still John Deacon. We don't undertake anything financial without talking to him.
9. All the children cry, "Mummy, why did the tone pot die?"
10. The next line is "It's like I've drunk myself sober." Spectre vs Rector by The Fall. Here's a (hopefully) less obscure one! "Your interest has waned, you feel the strain, the bed springs snap..."
11. Next line is "I'd love to spread manure in your bed of roses." "I'm soaked in blood but always good."
12. "But if it all works out nicely, you'll get the bonus you deserve from doctors we trust." (The Fat Lady of Limbourg - Brian Eno) "I'd like to drop my trousers to the Queen..."
13. Definitely worth £50. I really like the neck on mine. I've modded it quite a bit, though - Model One pickup, new pots/cap and a Hipshot Supertone bridge.
14. I've never played the VM but I have a J Masics and I really like it. I'd say the pick ups are brighter than those on a standard Jazzmaster. I know Mascis uses a sig model on stage sometimes and has swapped them out for SD Antiquity pups. The bridge is much better than the VM (so I've heard) and the neck is lovely to play.
15. Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGwPSPIhohk
16. You lucky so-and-so! All the recent SG/EB talk on here is giving me a serious GAS attack. Chrome flats sound great on basses like this. Thumptastic! Enjoy your bass.
17. Maybe he doesn't like Jim Hall's methods and is using a faker in protest!
18. Making Plans For Nigel - XTC Enola Gay - OMD Mad World - Tears For Fears Hmm, bit of a late 70s/early 80s synth vibe going on here.
19. There is a brief interview with Jack Monck (with his Wal) on his work with Syd Barrett on this documentary. From 40:00.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4m9pmSGWtk
20.
They are cool but the niche pickups would make upgrading it more difficult. Still a great looking guitar.
Seymour Duncan have some. http://www.seymourduncan.com/2011products/59-and-JB-model-for-epiphone-nighthawk.php Plenty of options for the mini humbucker too.
21. How about an Epiphone Nighthawk Re-issue? As thin as an SG but with more tonal options. I've got one and it's cool. http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Designer/Nighthawk-Custom-Reissue.aspx
22. You could try asking at the Last Bass Outpost forum. Plenty of Gibson bass owners on there.
