  1. An old band mate used to have a Strat that had been mouse masticated. He got it cheap from a bloke who had stored it in his loft for years. Roland and chums had been nibbling away at it so a chunk of the lower cutaway was missing.
  2. Yes. Because I say so! 😉 If it's a note rather than a chord you're looking for you could say "Wild Thing" by The Troggs.
  3. A Hard Day's Night is an obvious one.
  4. Strange seeing Rod Hull without Emu.
  5. Leaving aside the problem guitarist, it sounds like you wanted different things from the band so it was never really going to work out. You want to be out there gigging as much as possible while they're happy to meet up and muck about for a bit. Never the twain and all that. Best of luck finding a new project.
  6. I love the judge's description of Morrissey in the trial - "devious, truculent and unreliable where his own interests were at stake". Morrissey wrote a bitchy song called "Sorrow Will Come in the End" about the whole affair. It's excruciating. Legalized theft Leaves me bereft I get it straight in the neck (Somehow expecting no less) A court of justice With no use for truth Lawyer...liar Lawyer...liar You pleaded and squealed And you think you've won But sorrow will come To you in the end And as sure as my words are pure I praise the day that brings you pain Q.C.'s obsessed with sleaze Frantic for fame They're all on the game They just use a different name You lied And you were believed By a J.P. senile and vile You pleaded and squealed And you think you've won But sorrow will come To you in the end And as sure as my words are pure I praise the day that brings you pain So don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes A man who slits throats Has time on his hands And I'm gonna get you So don't close your eyes Don't ever close your eyes You think you've won Oh no
  7. His signature model (which I really like) has been mentioned but I've always liked the look of Jack Casady's Guild. All those knobs!
  8. Here's Hugh being typically charming to the audience at Guildford University. He starts with "Have you all got yer Crackerjack pencils? Stick 'em up yer derrières, then!" After playing Hanging Around, he finishes with "Guildford University never respresented Guildford. We hate playing to elitist audiences, so fukk off!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-_vHvYWDLA
  9. There's also Rotten's famous "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" at the Winterland show.
  10. It's brilliant, that. You can also hear Rob Gretton panicking too - "'Ook-eh, 'Ook-eh! Wass goin' on?"
  11. Bloody hell! I managed about 16 seconds of that.
  12. One did - Neil Innes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whatever_(Oasis_song) Although, it was more Innes' publishers that actioned the lawsuit rather than Innes himself. That often seems to be the way - the artists themselves aren't that fussed. As with Costello, they often "nick" bits of other songs themselves, so understand how the songwriting process works. It's more the publishers who kick up a stink. Probably because they aren't creatives, just a bunch of BREADHEADS!!!
  13. Great player - one of my favourites. Even made a bass solo exciting. His tone on the 1970 Isle of Wight gig is amazing.
  14. All the songs the Beatles covered on their earlier albums apart from the Chuck Berry stuff.
  15. That's the stuff I've been listening to for the past few weeks. All pretty new to me. For example, I listened to this yesterday. G̲orguts̲ - Obs̲c̲ura (1998) [Full Album] HQ - YouTube So, yeah, pretty heavy!
  16. Marmalade has two bassists in the 60s - one 4 string, one six. You can see an example in this clip - one guy on a Jazz, the other on a Longhorn 6 string.
  17. It's another Ronnie - Ronnie Wood - playing bass on Maggie May. Ron claims he was smashed when he recorded it, hence the general sloppiness of the whole basline.
