  1. Up until Basschat: Vox 15 watt practice amp Fender Bassman amp & 410 Laney Linebacker 150 watt combo Trace Elliot GP7 300 & Peavey 115 Black Widow Hartke HA4000 amp & XL210 & 115 Marshall MB450 amp & 410 Marshall DBS4500 amp & VBC412 After joining Basschat: Your guess is as good as mine, far too many to remember but includes Ampeg, Aguilar, GK, Markbass, TC Electronic, Barefaced, Eden. Currently: Ashdown RM500 & ABM600 amps, 2 x ABM PRO NEO 210 cabs It’s funny that I have better recall for the pre-Basschat gear, possibly because I had it longer and didn’t spend a great percentage of my days online reading up about my inevitable next purchases.
  2. On the current punk scene Pat Collier (ex bassist with The Vibrators) is very good.

  5. Saw this earlier, not good
  6. As much as I love my Ashdown set-up I`m slowly realising that my back is going to be making the choice on the gear I have moving forwards, have to say I think a Monaco might be the ideal cab for me going by the description of the sound, especially the tighter low end.
  7. Spot on, the 4 has a lot more mids, but also doesn’t sound as sharp on the top-end
  8. Probably more lower mids, where the Player seems toppier to me. Our producer said there was a lot around the 400 mark, and this is the area which I tend to scoop a fair bit.
  9. I’ve got a Warwick Rockboard which is slightly smaller in width than the Pedaltrain Nano, a good size for three pedals.
  10. In terms of sound/eq there’s not that much difference, it’s more real coffee/decaf for want of a better description. Similar but just richer and more.
  11. A big improvement imo, a much fuller all round sound.
  12. If it were me Dave I`d refrain from barging in there shouting "you dirty diseased biker scum". Just saying 🤣
  13. I did this for a while as I was using a lot of shared/provided rigs at the time. I preferred to be able to use the Tonehammer DI with my settings then DI from that to FOH then use amp eq for on stage sound. I didn’t really notice that much difference in the sound over the variety of rigs aside from on the low end, on some amps I had to back off a fair bit (and I had a trebly/twangy sound rather than bass heavy).
  14. I suppose the only one I can think of in that category is Matt Freeman of Rancid with his Squier Sig Precision. Probably one of the best Precisions out there, though sadly no longer in manufacture.
  15. I agree @Downunderwonder, Attack Goat has to be the best name for a pedal that I’ve heard of to date, can’t think of anything that would top that.
  16. That’s an amazing job
  17. I bought one, not because of TB but because of the colour scheme, got it for about £100. Was an amazing bass, I’d put it way ahead of Squier, possibly ahead of Mex Fenders as well.
  18. As most of the gigs I do are 30 minute support slots all I take are a spare lead and a Sansamp. If headlining I’ll take a backup bass as well.
  19. I’ve never seen them but a mate of mine really rated them. I’ll have to keep an eye out for when they’re local to me.
  20. Are they the AC/DC tribute that has both a Bon and a Brian singer, Steve?
  21. They’re less than Rotosound & Warwick Red steels, but probably a bit more than Ernie Ball Slinky’s & D’Addario Pro Steels.
  22. Went really well thanks, Jack. Good crowd, great fun.
  23. In my punk covers band the bassist uses a TC BH800 with two NY121 cabs and for gigs in a regular sized pub the amp is barely on, the set up has a really rich warm sound. So if you’re happy with your NY121 then that could be something to consider. Also worth checking out the Fender Rumbles if looking at combos. But my choice would be Ashdown, be it combos or head/cab.
  24. Just got in from my first gig on guitar in 15 years. Punk covers band The Dogmattics at The Oddfellows Arms in Hemel doing the regular punk stuff plus a few non-punk but punked up songs. Went well, I made a few minor mistakes but given I’ve only been in the band since January, we’ve only had three rehearsals and we’re doing about 40 songs I won’t beat myself up about it. Thoroughly enjoyed it, plenty of good comments from people who have seen the band before which was nice, and I’d almost forgotten what it was like to get paid for playing in a band, this gig being a nice reminder.
  25. Yep, with some tweaking you can get very near the ABM sound with the RM amps.
