1.
Strangely enough, it sounds less distorted with the tone controls full up and worse wound back. The input gain's on 1 on the TE. Any more and it gets scary. Winding the EMG's down helped alot, but didn't clear the problem up. The neck pup's about 6 or 7mm off the strings.
E-mail [email protected] and explain the situation as above - he may have an answer and their customer service is second to none...

    The Feeling
Am I right in thinking that they started off as, dare I mention it here, a cover band?
Yep, playing the 'apres ski' in places like Meribel they built up a very tight set of covers, then branched into writing their own stuff....
  3. The tone controls on the Tonepump are mainly boost but there is cut as well. Basic gain +12dB Controls: Bass: +14dB/-4dB @55Hz Treble: +14dB/-12dB @6.5kHz Meaning that to run the Tonepump flat, you have to open the bass pot just shy of 1/4 of the way, and the treble just shy of 1/2 way. With the 18v power it runs very hot if you overboost the bass/treble into an amp that can't handle it. Try positioning the controls in the flat position described above and getting a tone you like on the TE head (minding the input gain), then cut & boost carefully on the Tonepump to find your sweet spot.
Got the message across, he'll text you. If he says some mad Scotsman was heckling him (in a nice way), it was me By the way, they were absolutely brilliant it's not every day you get to see a band like that doing a pub gig. It was my sister in laws 50th birthday as well which made it all the more special.
Lovely! What a top blokey he is
  5.
But your Gene Simmons your supposed to be a dirty old letch
Oi!! I resemble that remark!!

Richard is a lovely bloke and a great melodic bassist to boot! Please tell him "Hi!" from Gary (his contact at PRS)
  7.
OK, I admit that was too much of a generalisation, but have you driven past Oceana and the Worx lately?
Not lately, but I'll try to get caught on the Kingston one-way system at the earliest opportunity!
  8.
You discover that the mums are far more interesting and fanciable than their daughters. Did I just say that?
I hit 40 this year.... and the daughters will ALWAYS be more interesting than their Mums...
  9.
His day job is as a Rotosound Rep isn't it??
Yes, maybe it's worth letting Rotosound know that their 'demonstrator/rep' is actually turning people off of not only their product, but music shows in general...?
  10.
Here's the Rotosound slapper extraordinaire, featured in an earlier BC thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=Clutterbuck The guy obviously has amazing technical ability but ....
IMHO most of that just sounded like random percussive clicks with an occasional unconnected note chucked in.... yuk....
  11. I bought a 'deep fill chicken sandwich', an Aero and a Liptons Iced Tea (Lemon) from the Tesco Metro over the road from the venue... The Aero was a bargain at only 75p!
  12.
Seems to me the people who hate slap are the ones who can't do it....much like the guy who couldn't get the chick so calls her names
Er.... no....
I feel a lot of slappers are like those chavs in their Saxos banging out D 'n B at high volumes, they think it's impressive and everybody wants to hear it but most people think they are dicks.
^This...
  13. I came away with very little GAS (probably due to Mark at Bass Direct NOT bringing a Bergantino NV610 and the new Genz benz Strealiner)! And that, for me, was a result! lol!
  14. I like slap when it's used tastefully and in it's place. Unfortunately what I heard today at the Bass Show was neither tasteful nor in it's place.... Lots of show-off bedroom bassists trying to outdo each other but not actually LISTENING to the tonal palette available from the instrument/amp they were demo-ing. Pointless and unnecessary.... and puts me, and many others, off attending future shows....
  15. I'm currently negotiating crappy London transport on my way to the show. Dreading the bedroom-player 'slapfest' but looking forward to seeing some tasty gear
  16.
.........and now it has a new home, indeed. This is a cracking instrument! I've never played a Spector before and I'm deeply impressed. The neck is remarkable. It takes a silly-low action with no buzz whatsoever, anywhere. And I'm getting some proper Flea circa 1987 tones out of the EMG's so I'm a happy bunny. Bargain this. Cheers Ash.
Congrats and welcome to the 'club'!
  17.
If only it was black...
At this price you could buy it and get it resprayed and STILL have a bargain!
  18. Meet them first & if you all get along - do it! The other band(s) can find a dep bassist in the meantime for gigs already booked, then if you change your mind you can always go back...
  19.
Cool - that's actually closer to me than Coalville. I'll book that one in.
Nice one!
  20. The classic 80's/90's Diesel cabs (2x104x10/1x15/2x15/1516 and Powerhouse) cabs loaded with EV's were MONSTERS and are some of the best sounding bass cabs EVER made IMHO. The more recent ones, though good, are IMHO not a patch on the earlier EV loaded ones...
  21.
Which is the weight? Tks!
The weight (according to my bathroom scales) is approx 8 lbs
  22.
Is that the one I played mate? If so, it plays wonderfully and sounds gorgeous, from glassy grit to dub tones with ease.
Hey Nige, it's not THE one.... but it IS it's sister! Thanks for the affirmation of the quality we're dealing with here...!
  23.
No disrespect, Cetera...you couldn't do your act without it.
It's half the fun.....and I make for a very imposing character!
