1. Eight bought an EH Bass Blogger from me a few weeks ago. Top guy and absolutely painless transaction. Highly recommended even if he has a penchant for dodgy tunes from Musicals
 2. I've got flats on my Shuker P 5 (EMG's) and had them on my Stingray too- they sound great
 3.
Hey folks, I'm the proud owner of a rather lovely Trace Elliot 715 combo (an old begger) with the 130 watt series 6 GP7 amp and was wondering if anyone had ever taken the head out to use as a 'Head only' set up. Might sound a bit daft, but let me explain. I'm in the process of becoming the proud owner of josh3184's Hartke Pro 2x12 cab, and as I love what the Trace gives me, even as simple as it is, it'd be a perfect stop gap til I get the green light to buy my Hartke head. Might seem like a nutter question, and probably is, but it'd also save me hunting out a new head as work has me all over the place. I'm pretty sure that the trace runs as low as 4 ohms, hence running the hartke won't be a problem (or at least I think not), but I'm interested to see if anyone has done this before. Don't panic, like I say, I do plan to go for a new head at some point, but just thought this would buy me some more time and please the missus as I won't be spending anymore cash (well, for now anyway). I'll probably post swap + cash deal at some point for the trace combo against a head, but again, was just wondering. Any thoughts?
I'm sure Voodoosnake (Col) did this with one of his combos. Might be worth dropping him a line
 4.
Lot's of choice on this front but I would whole heartedly recommend Sennheiser.... the Audio and Rf stability is second to none. Whats your budget for these.... have you thought about that yet? Jay
I've heard good things abou the Sennheisers and had a wireless system of theirs for my bass which was very reliable. I'm not really sure on budget Jay, but I'd say £350 per mic max at the moment, but that depends on what is available at that price.
 5. The band is considering buying soe wireless mics for ease of setup and to crete a bit less of a spiders web on the floor. We currently use Shure Sm58's and are looking for something of a similar quality, but not costing the earth (we're looking to purchase 3 mics). Does anyone have any recommendations at all? Thanks OHM
 6. Hmmmm. If we were French, we would be on Strike over these handles you know.
 7.
Sorry if this is meandering off topic, but the weight/ergonomics thing bugs me. For example, I had a Lowdown 150 which was a fantastic combo for small gigs, but because of a single stuck-on top handle, was a cow to carry. It wasn't light (48 pounds) but if some thought had gone in to how it could be handled, it might have been easier to lug. My Eden D115 cab is 60 pounds but I can grab it with both (recessed) side handles and get it in and out of the car with ease. So, manufacturers of beefy-but-bijou combo's TAKE NOTE. Rant over. I feel better for that.
I completely agree. I think the lack of decent carrying handles puts potential purchasers off some amps. The silly rubber one does my head in. I must be getting old
 8.
I'm still waiting for Mewsie to bring her GB rig over. Dying to try one! Yours looks really nice, mate - Heavy? Rich.
It's about 28kgs but has one of those awkward rubbery handles so it feels heavier. To be honest, the idea is to leave it upstairs for practice and as a backup, so once it's there it will stay there! The Epifani now lives in the garage with the PA, so it's dead easy to get it to the car and back.
 9. Last week during lunch I had a quick browse on Bass Direct's website. Not for any particular reason but Mark carries some very interesting gear. Anyway, I came across an ex-demo Genz Benz 210T Combo for nearly half-price. Having bought a GB Shuttle 6.0 from Mark a while ago, I knew firstly the quality of GB gear and secondly, what a nice guy Mark is to deal with. Anyway, the day after ordering it, it arrived. It pushes out 100W and is absolutely perfect as a practice amp and (God forbid) a backup amp should I ever need one. It means the Epifani UL310 can stay in the garage until its needed for rehearsal and gigs, so it will not only save my poor old legs going up and down the stairs, but also the wallpaper and door frames! from more dings. As expected, this is top quality and I can highly recommend this combo. For some reason it doesn't like me sending my signal through my Boss TU2 pedal, but other than that it's perfect. Thanks again Mark
 10.
Excellent! 15 feet away from the drummer AND you hid his cymbals .. Splendid!
That was during the warm up Si unfortunately, although due to the shape of the room I did end up standing about 10 foot away from him. It was lovely
 11. First up, a big thank you to Happy Jack for his advice on booking the George and Devonshire in Chiswick as a venue. I owe you one Jack. On Saturday we decided to get a group of friends and family together to play our new setlist to and see how it was received. In addition we managed to raise over £500 for Cancer Research. The good news is that it was received very very well indeed. The better news was that thanks to the Flyers we put out in the venue beforehand, not only did we end up with the 120 people we invited, there were a further 50 or so other people who turned up. Not everyone could fit in the Function Room, but the doors to the bar were left open so people could hear us. The gig went really well. A few of the changes were a bit sloppy but we were good. Even the locals said we were good! I had a number of compliments on my playing and (always nice) including a few posts on our website. I used he P Bass and the Ric through my GB Shuttle 6 and Epifani UL310. We've already been booked for 2 birthday parties and 2 weddings on the back of this too. We've got 2 gigs in February, so this was the perfect dress rehearsal for our new material. I even got to sing a bit of lead vocals, although looking at the pictures it looks more like I'm leading the Haka
 12.
I was so close to getting one of these from a Main dealer in Germany until he said he would meet me in Dover and take my money.
Oh My God That is gorgeous. What model is that and are they readily available?
 13. Always front right. Our Drummer is left handed, so I get quite a nice deal out of it
 14.
you wag
Seriously. I'm sure I read somehwere that he was moaning that he he didn't have a Fender sig model and thought he deserved one. But yes, you're right
 15.
It is about time that JJ was recognised for his major talent. I want to start a petition on Basschat and other sites and would encourage other to do the same, so we can create a digital list of bassists, other muso's and fans who would like a sig bass. Only one stipulation, they would have to offer it in a left handed version. 1. Steve Soar.
1. Steve Soar 2. JJ Burnel
 16.
Cool - that'd make my week. I'll sent you a PM fella. BTW Feel free to dust it. j/k
Dust it? Haven't you heard of Mojo??
 17.
Don't suppose you fancy doing it for £30? Forty is a bit more than I should spend on something I'm not entirely sure I'll use. Worth a try
As it's sitting there gathering dust mate, I'm sure we can arrange something
 18.
It is nice. I'd love a mapleglo 4003 to hang next to it, but as much as I love the look of Ric basses, I just can't seem to get on with them tone wise.
I've got the mapleglo 4003 and am hankering after a mapleglo 330 or 360. I've never played one (played a 330 years and years ago) but just love their style. Nice collection by the way.
 19. That Ric 330 has made me feel all funny
 20.
Is it because he's done things to Princess Leia that we can only dream of?
That's definitely part of the problem. Damn him and Jabba the Hutt!! I think it's because he constantly said how great he was and what a wonderful job he'd done. To be fair, he had done a wonderful job, but I always thought it was better to let other people say it rather than say it yourself. If I were him, all I'd have said "Here's my album. It's one of the best selling albums of all time. Oh, and by the way, while it was being made, I was f*cking Princess Leia and she was wearing her metal bikini".
 21.
Is there truth in the rumour that it was Bakithi's birthday on the day of the recording of "you can call me Al" and Paul said he could have a blatant solo / fill in the song as a treat, hence the slapped fill? Or is it just an urban myth, either way it has fuelled many pub discussions...
They said the story was true on the documentary Despite his obvious talent, I thought Paul Simon came across as being a bit of a D*ck on the documentary. I wanted to like him but I couldn't.
 22. Just bought Nik's Big Shot Bypass pedal. It arrived as promised and was well wrapped and is in as new condition. A top guy to deal with- thanks Nik
 23.
My '72 Ric 4001 with all the goodies; I bought it in a sale in 1993 for £490. I'd played it a year before (when it was £680) and completely fell in love with it. I couldn't afford it at the time, so went away convinced it would never be mine, but pleased at least that I'd actually found "the one". A year later I'd been saving up for a new amp, turned up at the same shop again, and there it was on the wall, reduced to sell. As luck would have it I'd also taken my 76 4001 along to try some amps so was able to do a direct comparison (the 72 blew it out of the water). I couldn't pay for it fast enough. It was obviously meant to be mine! This is a pic of me playing it the year I got it..... ...and here's me playing it a couple of years ago...
Looks like you're playing the same song too!! Lovely bass. I'm a massive fan of Rics having rediscovered them recently
