1. That's what I'm thinking, I will start saving then.
2.
Why focii? because bass players are a knowledgable, well informed, intelligent breed.. .just avoid the 'kiss of death' 1.6 diesels! Although ive bought and sold hundreds of focii my current 'squeeze' is an old london taxi....diesel auto people carrier huge area in the back....i would think they make a reasonable tour bus. only 5 or so left in london....prices on the rise.
Too late mine is a 1.6 Citroen engine! A long as it keeps going though I will be happy, 60mpg on a run £30 tax but on a zetec spec car with almost all the options ticked
3. Oooh never seen an SR5 in the 05 buttercream mate, jelous!
4.
Reading music is an essential skill to have, sure, but I can't help but feel that people who dismiss tab and other forms of notation entirely are just elitists. Proper music notation is extremely cumbersome for jotting down quick ideas. If I just want to jot down a riff so I remember it, I either jot down the tab or the notes, tab is usually quicker. How exactly do I jot down music notation? Assuming you don't carry staff paper around (not an unreasonable assumption), you have to draw a staff and then draw the dots, it's not very quick or convenient. Don't get me wrong, reading and writing music notation is a very important skill to have, but you can use alternatives without being a dunderheaded ignormaus.
If I drew the tab for a 5 string bass that's 5 lines to draw just the same? And tab has no note duration either.
5. You can always turn down and still have enough power for a band practice or for when the neighbours are out
6. Looks cool, do I need some form of graphic eq though?
7. I have a Genz 3.0 as a backup if I take my 6.0 out, and the 6.0 comes as the spare if I'm using my big head, I could carry all three under one arm! I like the look of the little GK heads, tiny but would work well with your GK cabs
8. I'd try and bag something secondhand, even an old Peavey tnt combo or something? My mate has a Trace Elliot commando that sounds quite good too, not massive but could do a gig or loud practice if needed.
9. I suppose tubes are a bit like halogen lamps that can last days or years?
10.
I had a V plate focus and had to scrap it last year. The wife decided that we should have a "sexy black fiesta" and there is sod all room in the back, even with the seats down. I miss the old girl...
Women eh? My better half calls this our grandad car, misses her micra that did the same mpg as this (50ish) yet cost more to tax as this is only £30 a year.
11.
I well remember fitting extensive gear (Acoustic 370 and drum kit) in 2CV. These days Movano and Ifor Williams Trailer, gets the bass rig in lolx
My other car is a Morris 1000, I will see how much I can get in there next time!
12. Surprised me how it ate the db! This shape focus is 6 inches longer than the first one and you can see what a difference that has made regarding not needing the estate. Btw the thing on the left is not a butt plug, the car has the weird easyfuel thing with no fuel cap, the tube is for emergency fillups or additives, not sexual doings!
13. Well here's my reasoning, Genz vertical 2x12 cab with Mackie desk in its oversized box lengthways with the front seat in its normal position, double bass with the scroll between the seats but not in my way at all when driving, just blocks the armrest, hiscox case with a Ray5 inside looks lost, double bass stand, rucksack and there is a gig skinz case hiding behind it with the Genz 9.2max head and pedal board inside. There is room behind the drivers seat still, enough to get the lighting rig in at least and the seat is set for me at over 6 foot tall, still gaps in the back. Some Focii have a deeper boot as this one has a full size wide wheel and a big foam surround as the space saver won't fit this model of focus, in a way its better as it makes a nice flat load area now. I thought about the estate version but well not really an issue even if you had 2 4x10s rather than a 2x12 and double bass! I have seen comments about bass bashes looking more like a Ford Focus gathering so pics or it didnt happen etc.... 14. Took my Gedo to practice today, I'm getting ok with no position markers now, glad I didnt cheat now, anyway I couldn't get much volume out of it, straight into the Genz 9.2 max worked best, the artec graphic isn't much use at gig volume so it looks like a Fishman plat pro next and they see how the J tone works with it.
15. Best left as is I think!
16. You missed the deleted thread then?
17. Fret markers in the wrong place will add to the fun!
18.
Good questions. Despite the temptations of versatility, I seem to get on better with really simple instruments. 4 strings, one pickup, a tone control and everything else is either in your hands or just not there. That seems to work best for me.
A two eq stingray is worth trying, you never know you might love it! Single pickup and simple controls, classic bass that has been used in every style of music, in budget too
19. Last time someone dared question the ebmm build quality the thread was deleted!
20. Ace! Mwah ma mwahhhhh........
21. He is amazing, really makes a bass sing. Funny guy too
22. Go on then will it be like Qi if it say "why" nee naw nee naw! Why passive why only one pickup? How many strings? 5 being the correct answer btw : lol:
23. Get the pliers out Marcus!
24. It's crazy,I first saw it when looking for upright clips. As soon as I started on the double bass my respect for the good players went through the roof.
