1.
Get a Stingray. Boom.
I don't understand why this wasn't post number two? Seriously I can't help but clank on any stingray, can be annoying for some recording duties but I have a jazz for those rare occasions.
2. Ooooh that could work well with our female frontman Ta
3. Headstock thing is normal and my necks are filthy, I use wire wool now and again to clean them
4. I find ebmm strings do work well on ebmm basses, I used to have the pink 40-125 but I have switched up to the green 45-130 for a tighter B string. if you message ebmm they well tell you what date it was built and the original spec
5. How can we as musicians slag off simon cowell and all the reality nonsense then diregard a band if the bass player wears glasses?!
6. I would of agreed to do the gig then not turned up, bunch of egotistical bell ends!
7. You can't see them anyway and I'm bald! The joy of not constanly pushing my glasses up my nose during gigs or even just when its warm out is worth a million pound.
8.
...oo! http://www.wedgees.com/
Thats 'em but I found some on ebay, looks like quite a few people have found out about them as they only have the grey ones left! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NIB-WedGees-Non-slip-Grip-Sunglasses-Eyeglasses-Spectacles-Holder-Retainers-/261199199856?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_VisionGlasses_Lenses_SM&var=&hash=item3cd0af7e70
9.
I'd never come across these. I generally don't wear my specs simply because of the sliding-down-sweaty-nose issue, so these look ideal - thanks! The question is will they stop the other problem of my glasses flying off and hitting the drummer when I fling my head back in moments of wild enthusiasm?
They really do work and I'm not involved with the company in any way, I wear them at work in the building trade and under cars etc as my other hobby, excellent!
10.
Presumably, they would rather you buy new glasses rather than something to make your current glasses more wearable.
Well I know I will be buying a new pair every time I have new glasses or these wear out so if they sold then at the counter that would be £5 for two bits of neoprene every time!
11.
Both myself and the guitarist need glasses to see. I can play fine without them but I can't see the information on the digi desk window so.. Thanks to Stingray Pete we both acquired Wedgees and the dreaded noseslip is a thing of the past. It was good enough for Holly and Costello.
Wedgees are brilliant aren't they?! I don't understand why they are not more widely available, as far as I know vision express and three other big stores don't sell them?
12. Mine used to slip down all night, drove me mad. I have got wedgees on all mine now, brilliant!
13.
Love Potion Number 9 (take your choice of versions), any early Cash, Just can't get enough (Depeche Mode). If you think your set list is eclectic you should see the twenty-four songs we're working on with the ukelele group (five of your songs are on the list). Have fun Steve
Thanks I will have a listen
14. I know the version its on my list of songs too!
15.
I had a very similar mind set as the OP, i was a 4 string only player and didn't really have a care or a reason to try a 5string. I eventually started toying around with them in music stores and found one i bonded with (there's not many out there that's nice to play!!). I found playing 5 string over the last 18months has improved my overall playing and approach to bass guitar, as also fretless playing has. It's helped me overcome the plateau i was on playing just a 4string fretted bass alone.
All of this reflects my own story!
16. Just had a quick scan on ebay for the first time in a while, not that many about is there? Looks like they have bottomed out at the current prices and anyone who has one is just hanging onto it for now. I think you will have more luck selling your basses on here or where ever then buying a Ray outright.
17. Most Rays usually sell for more on eBay than on here IMO, the odd one goes cheap but generally the ones started for 99p tend to go for more than ones listed over and over! I guess people like to bid?
18. Why dont you just sell yours on evilbay and be done with it?
19. Is it OK to like learning this one? I know its in the Moondance category which is also in our set but I think its a better song? So far our set is a right mixture and although I am sure the usual BC members would slate it in general discussion we already know how well it goes down at the gig so the punters win IMO We have a random list of songs and so far the upright ones are; The Police- Roxanne and Every Little Thing She Does, The Cure-Love Cats Moondance! Peggy Lee- Fever (work in progress for practice this week) I also do these on either elec or upright Paloma Faith- Upside Down Amy Winehouse- Valerie House Martins- Happy Hour Dolly Parton- 9-5 9 songs on the upright in the set is probably more than enough anyway but I could swap things around if I had a few more, any suggestions of known songs that either are upright style songs or can work on either? Amazingly the rest of the set takes us from Kelly Clarkson's Since you been gone right through to Blondie, Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac and the usual Kings of Leon and the Killers etc! Thanks
20. Better is subjective though so I would say no we cant all agree on that. Steve Harris does nothing for me and nor does the other lets all veto ERBs because X never played one 'Billy Sheehan'. It is not because of the 4 strings they prefer I just dont really like their music. I was learning this earlier and it made me think of this thread.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHzOOQfhPFg Tony Kinal is ace IMO, nice subtle use of the extra notes as ever and SR5 to boot
21.
Ha ha ha, a happy choice of phrase. It doesn't count unless a second person is involved!
Very good sir
22. In what way unknown? Ohm value our just if it generally works ok? If it works with the house amp and is the correct ohmage I'd use it.
