1. I played my first E# a few weeks ago, I started a thread about it!
2.
Everything's online nowadays. If you know where to look, you don't even need to use the ladies underwear section anymore.
I'm barred from the local store because I thought that was why they were laminated!
3. I'd take it if it wasn't left handed and had a b string.
4.
I must be in a minority here but I don't like shops like Argos selling basses. They are so often unplayable as they weren't set up properly and I'd much rather people bought from local music stores. Just my personal opinion.
I lusted after an encore from the age of eight because of the Argos book, since then my local store had relieved me of much more than £89 spent in Argos
5. I think I'm ok my band are unique in that we don't do the splurge bit, more of an angst core dub gimp and western vibe to or set.
6.
What a relief! I find this particularly interesting and poignant: http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/166006/Trail/searchtext%3EBASS.htm
Do they improve the tone much, are they good for metal alternative sub reggae retro pop industrial splurge bands?
7.
maybe the aliens took all the basses with them
Giggidy
8.
I love that green finish. Seriously. How did you do it?
Ronseal Somerset valley ?
9.
And relax... http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Search/searchTerms/BASS.htm
That's online though, none in the laminated book of dreams!
10.
Nope, cos it was a Sunn Mustang (still is) 1989. Was technically my mate's til 1996 when I repossessed it from him for 30 quid beer money owed. He had already scraped off the decal by then. When I refurbed it, I couldn't find a custom decal maker to do me a Sunn Mustang, so it rocks a 70s fender decal now. If I could be arsed I would redo it with an original.
Can't put a value on these stories can you?
11.
My first bass, still my main bass, looks a bit different these days, but came from an Argos catalogue. Sad times if they don't have any anymore.....
Not rocking the encore logo then?
12. Argos sell everything! Except basses it appears
13. Galaxy tab went flat so I decided to flick through the new Argos catalogue only to find no basses at all! Is this a sign of how few youngsters want to play the best instrument out there? My first guitar was an encore electric guitar and thinking back it had a single humbucker in the sweet spot, must of implanted the concept in my had back then!
14. Oooh intrigued!
15. I have heard good things about the mibass but not tried one yet, even though my last one was crap I would still have another if I liked it. The early little giants I liked the concept of but they missed the boat with both the Genz 6.0 and TC heads being out at the same time putting out more power for the same money, I beleive they were dogged with problems too? Tbf so was the first batch of genz heads which strangely gave genz the opportunity to show their after sales skills off with lots of folk being impressed.
16. When did sensible ever equal fun though?!
17. I honestly prefer the cheaper versions, we used to go to a jam with a mag410 of some sort and it blew my proper abm rig away to be honest. Mine did develop some serious issues and was sold for spares in the end, the peavey tnt I sold to buy it in 2001 is still gigging most weekends with its new owner!
18.
I've been working my way through the Ashdown amps (I was probably a Magpie in a former life). None has been either unreliable or lacking top end to be honest, the latter might be more a cab problem I think. What about Matamp? Trace (not sure if they are still UK made), but S/H they are a storm.
I would agree the wooly thing is more the cab than the head, my genz head sounds wooly through the 4x10, s at the studio we use. The heads just set on fire which can be an issue for some I do love the guys on here that claim how much top end their ashdowns have, never had an issue etc, my 51p with flats on has bags of sizzle! No it does not
19.
I hate it when someone's BC username gives us no clue about them.... Cheers Random Bass lover
I have reduced my stock of rays and concidered selling all three to fund one bass, not sure what though, can't really have no rays without a name change can I?
20.
The Ric I tried was played through an Ashdown amp... I liked it
Liking both products is fine, blatantly denying that they can have some issues, neck dive and wooly etc is the problem for me, Ebmm rays with bare necks get dirty quickly and genz shuttles can be a bit digital sounding for some people, I get it and can cope with knowing not everyone desires my gear.
21. Turned out I actually like some treble and reliability
22. Is there one? Ashdown made in china or somewhere now arent they, I had a uk built one for years it was crap!
23. A hole is a goal and all that!
24. The one I sold to andytoad that he is selling is a beast and at a bargain price
