1. I'm going to have a play with it later today,I need to shim it better. I will report back with photos.
2.
The guy really wanted an acoustic DB but is happy to give it a go, I think mine sounds pretty good with its Spirocores on and the mods done All in good time, If I had somewhere to put one I would be tempted to sell my black pre EB to fund one, I still love that Framus cutaway in the FS section
Ha, this has happened since I last posted! : lol:
3. Just got in from this little bit of recording I mentioned a while ago, went well I think and met a new musician which is how all of my gigs and bands have evolved over the years. Once the guy has finished it I will put it up for you lot to judge
4. Never had that problem any more or less than any other bass regardless of the number of strings really.
5.
Ric have done the thing Fender and Gibson couldn't do, which is protect their ideas. Hence all the arguably sh*t / better copies out there, cluttering the world up, because some companies don't have the wits to come up with their own design... Fender and Gibson didn't see it coming. Rickenbacker did. However, Ric copyright certain bits of their design, as they are perfectly entitled to do and yet people are up in arms about John Hall setting his team looking for copies on sale? If you want an instrument that looks like a Ric... buy a Ric (says he with a Retrovibe 5er and a John Birch, which I just couldn't turn down at the price), but 4 Rics.
Nope, all the better and worse versions exist just the same but Rick haven't made any money from the copies where fender/squier Gibson/epiphone have.
6. I have just seen that and thumperbob wants it already! I am going to try the J Tone I have fitted for now so I think I will be after a Fishman preamp more than the pickup for now Anyone selling a used Fishman?
7.
Closeish to Birmingham... http://www.timtoftviolins.com/
It worries me finacially how close that shop is to me!
8. Looks real enough! what happens if I put a million pound bid on it?
9. True, I'd never have a sixer! * I said that about a fiver three years ago
10. Also it is a downgrade, does it have less of something, yes
11. How many years on a four have you had compared to the five? stick with the five for that many years and update this thread Obviously all the four bangers are going to tell you the four feels right because that's how many strings a bass has blah blah
12.
I still don't understand why manufacturers would want to copy something so pants to start with anyway...?
Cheeky
13. Another cheeky bump for this awesome bass, last few bumps before withdrawing
14. I had all my eBay listings pulled (about 12 various items) as I had a Les Paul copy listed as a copy with a BIN price of £65! Some dick with nothing better to do had reported to eBay and as copies are not allowed they removed it and all my other listings
15. I have a Genz Shuttle 3.0 for home practice that I use either with a 1x10 or phones, as its a no load required head I also use it as a Di box from time to time too, the great thing about them is that they have no cooling fan and dont need one either so its really silent for such a pokey head, I have run my Genz 2x12T off it with no problems so its a perfect spare head for function band type gigs as a spare to my other Genz heads, weighs nothing and takes up no room under the car seat just in case
16. Good idea, I see now as one side will be in direct contact with the bridge. Weekend project I'd say.
17. I have cut it the best I can, looks 'ok' I need to shim them out when I get time as the E side is weaker than the G at the moment and I have wrapped them with thin foam to wedge them in which wont help I know, I am going to slacken the strings off, wrap the pickup tabs in matching black pvc tape until I can just squeeze them in then tighten it all back up and try that. The output is quite weak at the moment but I will see how it is after the pickup are more snug.
18. It has arrived but I will need to cut some wood away!
19. I have just bought a cheap piezo now very similar actually, waiting to see how that sounds to start with, preamp next if needed then a better piezo I think?
20. I'm pretty sure my bad playing will be more of an issue than the piezo I will report back after I have fitted it.
21. I have ordered a cheap ebay one just to get me started, hopefully something good will crop up at the right price soon. It is a wing type one so I will try and get it snug then, await many questions......
22. It's good! Sticky enough to grip the strings but not messy, leaves a clear finger print if you press it.
23. Yeah its a dirty bitch of a bass ain't it, only seen him on jazz basses in recent years which is a shame imo.
24. Wall hangers! Oh hang on I read your post properly you will work it out mate.
