1. We would need to wait for the public weigh bridge to open on Monday for me to post the weight of my black stingray 5 : lol:
2. Nathan Watts is the man, end of, it's not even up for debate
3. Can you hear anything useable like a melody though, we can hear quite high frequencies but Florence and the machine have proven those to be fairly useless or worth hearing too
4.
I can hear down to 30Hz according to this audio sweep - humans generally can't hear below 20Hz, though. http://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_frequencychecklow.php You'll need proper monitors to hear the lowest frequencies - and watch your volume, it gets loud!
That's great in isolation but in reality and in a band mix all it's doing is sucking up wattage.
5. They are only shelved at 80 if you don't engage the LF, it caused arguments about the shuttle 9.0 being deeper than the 6.0 because people read that the 9.0 goes to 37hz, they were actually the same.
6. Im more of a sh*t stirring on looker thanks, crap at fighting both verbally and physically
7. Utter nonsense, and Flea is better than Mark King anyway, thump, biff!
8. I played at the Bull and Gate in Kentish town a few years, who was on bass in another band? Only Trevor from Trevor and Simon of swing yer pants fame! Terrible band as a recall Simon actually came to watch them too and David Badiel was in there, weird night.
9.
The dream.
See I could just put my A string on to create that, yours would need to be offset to one side
10. Hindsight eh?! Here's a funny thing which I have probably told you before,I bought my 2010 new to get an alnico one for that proper stingray tone, then traded my sr4 for my black one which is a really late ceramic one, it's now my favourite bass!
11. We cant hear down to 45Hz and chances are your amp is shelved long before? Genz heads are shelved at 80Hz for example, putting the LF switch in allows it to drop to around 38Hz but then you still need a good cab to handle that.
12. Extra string? Not me mate I have the correct number of strings, they dont make a six string Stingray anyway
13. Anyway you dont want one of those....you want one of these...Killer tone I presume strung B-D? And the Ricky boys think they have the clank nailed? (see 5.15 or so)
14. My Classic 5 now lists at around £2200, Listed on here I would imagine I would be asking around £1300 including the John East preamp, TBF I did not buy that one new. As much as you are down on EBMM now you must have liked them at some stage to have bought so many nice examples so there is no knowing if something 'better' might come along. I just enjoy the ride me, If I added up all the receipts for parts and services for my classic cars I could easily have bought a 355 Ferrari by now but would it be worth loads and be as much fun as my Morris minors, MGBs or Minis......actually thats not a very good example is it?
15. Putting these tracking sim cards into a cheap phone is getting popular with the Classic car scene, if you are doing a full rebuild you can even weld one in and run a discreet feed to a charger and leave it there forever, only a clued up thief will run an inline ammeter to see if there is any load on the positive battery feed. velcro'd to the rear seat panel behind the petrol tank on a mini works great as its a task to remove the tank for example. There is no reason why you could not stash one in a speaker cab or better still a combo that charges when ever the amp is plugged in?
16. Would you get every penny back on all the dingwalls if something else came along, you might say yes but you know you wouldn't.
17. Unless you buy used I can't see how you can break even let alone make money, it's just a cost of my hobby and not even a consideration in my buying process to be honest.
18.
Shouldn't you be 5tingray then...?
Well I only had one stingray 4 when I joined bass chat! I agree they are only going to be as strong as the wall behind, even then some people can't knock a nail in can they, I'm an electrician but I often have to re fix curtain poles for useless husbands that have put tiny yellow rawl plugs to hold up full length heavy curtains!
19. Im quite a good swimmer! Lol My mate has a butterscotch strat with a black scratch plate it is indeed a trans finish but they vary in there trans-ness (new word?) From what ive seen.
20. My case which came from a sale or swap on here has butterscotch jazz faintly written on it, surprise surprise it actually contained a Stingray, lol
21. Is there a prize!?
22. Is it butterscotch?
23. Im not sure about the strings but I love the flea bass, I still have serious gas for a modulus funk5 in silver!
24. Ive never made money on anything, I knew when I strolled out of pmt in 2010 with my blue sr5 for £1650 id struggle to get more than around £1100 if id listed in the for sale section here Gas
