1. Just because YOU didn't pay that price doesn't mean the seller didn't get the asking price, I wish I'd bought every 60s P bass on the market 15 years ago including the 'overpriced' wishful thinking ones!
2. Maybe his bass tech just paints them between songs? Route for the single coil behind the pickguard!
3.
Me too... I'll use it every day and expect to get 6 months plus life out of it... possibly a year but I'll retire the battery before it fails on me. I also have passive options on all basses..just in case.
I've only got one passive bass! Master Blaster by Stevie Wonder might be a stretch :-o
4.
I'd do away with my rig if I was guaranteed a decent PA system and a sound engineer with good ears on every gig. The singer in the cover band has been using in-ears for his vocal which was an improvement for him, but as he is also the guitarist and the guitar wasn't in his in-ears he was "disconnected" from the guitar and the balance was "problematic" between the instruments. The other problem was, they ate batteries.
So he puts his vocals in the in ear mix but not his guitar? How do you do one of those head bang wall emoji things?! Lol
5.
That's what most people do , but if you played obscure or unliked music , you'd still be a covers band
Ah you have seen my band then! damn
6. I am liking all these Stingrays he keeps pulling out , how many has he got?!
7. I unplug any bass on stage between sets, saves big hoofed drummers hooking the cable and dragging basses off their stands!
8. Once a year I do strings, battery and general check over on each bass.
9. I did one of these a few years ago, they want you there as they set the tent up before they use it for the main meal at lunchtime, then for background music until around 6,mics for speeches as and when etc etc etc with the band appearing by magic at 9pm all for £100 a person.
10. It sounds like a great plan to me, I might do the same at some point.
11. I just don't see the 'released' part as relevant?
12.
He let Mott do it before he'd released any recorded versions of it himself.
Where are you drawing the line between making a demo in the studio and a global number one hit? He must have made some form of recording of it that Mott used as a reference?
13. You know what when posting about my Classic I'd forgotten about the two pre EB versions I'd gigged regularly before, I didn't notice the slabs on them either,my '79 weighed about 13 lbs but man it sounded awesome!
14. It got from there to production with the normal electronics in only a few months.
15. My wife's mini Mayfair has the original tape deck, I've cleaned the heads but I've only got a Pulp album and a green day one, I went on eBay to buy some red hot chili peppers ones for her,Jeez they fetch a lot!
16. The Beatles- Chains was written by Carole king, in fact she has written so many songs maybe it would be easier to just define bands into two categories, ones that do or ones don't play songs written by Carole king!
17.
And when it all comes down to uit, prices quoted on stuff for sale are generally the sellers most optimistic take on what he hopes someone will pay. Anything being sold is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sadly an awful lot of sellers think that just because THEY want a certain price, a seller HAS to pay it. (heh:)
Well in truth if the seller sticks to that price and the buyer really wants it then the buyer will have to pay for it.
18. I own a few of both, don't notice it during a gig tbh.
19. I agree that it was the fake speakons rather than wire size but even with proper quality ones the thin wires dont get a very good connection as the terminals are designed for much bigger cables ime.
20.
Often, in the old days, the composer would have written out the dots above the lyricist's words. No recording, unless we are going to call the dots a recording method which, of course, it was.
If you make some method of returning to something it's a record, the black circular thing came much later than the word didn't it?
21.
How about Wigan? Ever play there?
Nah It's too near Karlfer who doesn't like me
22.
So we have to add in a caveat - for a very small number of cases where the songwriter didn't make the original recording but then later went on to re-record it themselves. In which case the first one is an original, the second one is a cover of the first one as the material is no longer original, even if the artist originally wrote it. The artist still get the credit for originally writing it, but not for making the original recording. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things as there are thousands of recording artists who release original material that has be written by others. That's just a part of the process you give up when you write for someone who you think will do a better job than you will and make your song more popular than you could (at that point in time).
The person who wrote it must have made some kind of recording to be able to have it covered, even Tab would be sufficient as a 'record' of the song's existence?
