Careful with your fingers.....
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Beedster's topic in Repairs and Technical
Unrelated to the manufacturer in question, but injuries similar to the one I suffered here can easily be caused by a hidden edge or point when caught by a wedding ring. I no longer wear jewellery of any kind as a result of this. -

Not only is that response surprising, from a business standpoint, it's utterly stupid. It's an admission of liability. By all means save a few quid if you want, but it would take a couple of minutes on each corner to rectify the issue before potentially exposing customers to injury. If it was a toy, Trading Standards would be all over it like a rash. Potentially, they still could be. -

Just returned from the garage having blown the dust off my Big Twin II. The part of the corner edge that is most prominent is like yours, i.e. facing downwards, but doesn't protrude quite as far. Whilst it's not sharp, I can see how an injury might occur if handled without being aware of it. The other edge sits back from the inner side of the port by about as much as the other one protrudes. Might break out the Dremel next week. -

I’ve never noticed any issues on the corners of mine, but then I always use the handles as I have issues with my hands anyway. Going to have to go and check now. Thanks for the heads up. -
Advice needed- recording with a MacBook
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to leftybassman392's topic in General Discussion
I’ve just started doing this myself. I bought a Focusrite 2ch for £80 ish. Thomann has a 4ch B-Stock for £163. The interface is great and I use it through JamKazam for rehearsals and Garage Band for recording. I laid down a bass part the other day and sent it off to ours keys player. He did his bit and sent it back to me yesterday. I’ll build it up bit by bit from there. I use a Shure mic for vox and in house drums in GB. Sorted. -

Same formula as basses. How many you actually have + 1.

Oh, I completely agree Taurus was the genesis of Stairway. No denying that, but it’s a small descending pattern that Jimmy & Co ran a marathon with.
-
I dunno, I can't remember where I read it now, but I thought that was taken into account during the appeals. I know it matters not a jot what think, but yes, the descending pattern is very similar, but 'Taurus' ain't 'Stairway To Heaven'. It's the vocal and the hook at the end of that descending pattern that make it what it is. I'd have kicked it out of court too. YMMV of course.
-
The Blurred Lines/Got To Give It Up thing was a load of tosh. I thought part of the reason the Stairway thing went on as long as it did was because, as you said, they weren't allowed to hear Taurus and that allowed the appeals.

Mmm - a couple of issues there.... 1. Thicke sang it. I presume no-one was standing there with a gun to his head at the time. 2. What happened in the 70's and 80's doesn't justify what happens in 2012/13.

That's the way the cookie crumbles in the legal system. It went as far as it could and can't heard again.

The bass player is not @ped or @Rich - it's William Taylor 😎

Personally, I think you might be missing something. The lyrics are ambiguous, but it has been suggested, not by me, that they are concerned with boundaries regarding consensual and non-consensual sex. I've seen more blatant lyrics from hard core rappers, so yes, I agree with you there. I find it hard to believe that all the 701 million hits from the video are just from males though.

Pharrel walks away free? Didn’t that song cost him millions?

Great? I’m not sure Paula Patton would agree.

I’m going to carve out 90 mins on Friday to absorb this and report back. Thanks for the heads up @Clarky 👍 -
Gimme an A! (Cliff Williams Stingray)
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Doctor J's topic in Bass Guitars
I’m not convinced 10,000 would sell, but I take your point. Fender are still punting Pino’s out to order, so I guess it could work. It doesn’t seem to be the way of things at EB though. This seems to be more of a Fender Phil Lynott P affair than anything else. -

Providing they are confident they can sell all 26, that argument makes no sense. Far easier and economical to make the 26 and rake the cash in from them than say making 52 @ $3,500 each. I do agree though that $7k is a bit much. In fact. I would go as far to say for what you get, it's taking the gypsy's kiss. Don;t get wrong, I'll happily spend $7k, just not on a Stingray. -

Always love this song from ‘Interactive”.
