1. Warwicks - Like the tone but not the aesthetics. Ricks - Don't like the sound or aesthetics. Status - Too blingy/flashy. Should have 6 strings and be reserved for egotistical guitarists Yamaha - I'm going to be honest. I just don't get what all the fuss is about. Wals - The Delorean of the bass world. Stylistically stuck in the 80s and were never actually cool. Geeks tried to make it cool and in turn created a new low on the geek scale, so lesser geeks finally had someone to bully.
 2.
I always wonder about the guys using the smaller single 12 cabinets how you get on with them. You ever struggle for level or monitoring on stage? I know quite a few players using the single Markbass 12's, mostly for portability purposes, something that living up north I've never struggled with because transport has never been an issue (up until last month I had a big Eden rig), however I'm guessing that if I ever make the move to London I'll need to downsize my rig to be able to get around as well. Just curious to know your experiences really!
I use mine on its own for small jazz gigs when volume isn't huge. Most other gigs I use it for monitoring in addition to a DI to the PA. that provides the extra volume and can be adjusted for the front of house sound, and I can have an entirely different (if I want) stage sound for monitoring. I can honestly say, I've played small venues to full on venues with it and it's never ever not done the job (and done it to a superb standard)... Probably why it always confusing me when people choose to bust their balls carrying massive cabs about to every gig when a 1 x 12 can compete quite easily for quality of sound. Having recently borrowed (from the support band) an Ampeg 8 x 10 with a Mesa boogie valve head for a gig down south, I honestly wasn't impressed. It lacked the definition and tonal qualities that my rig has in bucket loads and whilst it offered more power when cranked, the sound guy had a DI so just asked me to turn down on stage anyway. Either way, I couldn't get it to push a sound that I liked. It seemed to be more about rumbling everyone's balls and blowing their eardrums out than offering tonal variety and control. Basically, small rig is great for me and I honestly wouldn't change it for the world.
 3.
You think he was annoying! What about Henry Schmuckbucket, I mean Henry Juszkiewicz Henry Juszkiewicz
I least Henry didn't imitate accents to try and help us understand him!
 4. In other news. That Eric dude was annoying. Good work, but annoying.
 5. Markbass LMIII & Aguilar GS112... Perfect.
 6.
You'll get far less booming with a Gramma than you would after 5 curries...
Yeah true, but they are both sh!t hot!
 7.
I suppose the real problem for me is the overly ambitious build time, if your quoted a long time and it is, then its fair enough etc.
You're not the first to cite it as a major issue with Shuker though... Surely Jon could hire more help or take less work on? Or be more realistic in his quotes?
 8.
Line 6 ? They are helping to change the way music is made.
By poorly modelling amps, effects and now live sound? I haven't used/heard a line 6 product yet that actually SOUNDS good.
 9.
Blimey, no wonder so many of you are still using Fender basses What is it with this inability to accept new technology and approaches?
I'd have accepted if it was from ANYONE other than Line 6. Hype-merchants!
 10. How did this CURE your GAS?! It would have made me draw up an extensive list of more potential stunning builds!
 11. Had a mate with a Shuker and it was stunning... but reading this i'd go nowhere near for a build. Taking so long and poor communication would be bad enough but delaying AFTER all of that is even worse. He should be breaking his balls to keep you sweet, especially considering you're a repeat customer. My worry would be if he's like that with you, how poor is his service for new customers?
 12.
Yes, that's a fair point and I know what you mean (I think). I may not be explaining myself very well. Perhaps the problem is that the drummer is following me rather than being in the driving seat? I've not experienced this before and it doesn't feel comfortable.
Sometimes its nice to be in control of where things are going
 13.
Be prepared for an avalanche of Fender/Squire/Warwick recommendations...
Get a Dingwall!
 14.
I love precision tone but moved to a jazz because I found that the P tended to fall back in the mix as I went up the neck. with the jazz you lose a bit of low end balls but get more focus and power higher up.
+1 I have solved this problem by having my 2nd Jazz fitted with flats!
 15. Acceptable? Probably. Worth the risk of not getting a call back for the next job? Definitely not.
 16. I still say Ah-ghee-lar either way lol Moot point!
 17.
Is it acceptable for a pro musician to drink?
Can of worms officially opened!
 18.
I thought that only the double L group ("ll") is pronounced "yah". Single L is pronounced just L, like in Barcelona, Valencia, albondigas, oloroso, etc. I still think it's Ah ghee lar
You get the 'yah' with double LL or if the 'L' is followed by an 'A', which is not the case in your examples (Barcelona, Valencia, albondigas, oloroso, etc) It's Ah-ghee-yah
 19.
I thought Aguilar is pronounced Ah-ghee-lar, like it would be in spanish
In spanish, it would be Ah-ghee-yah... Like David Villa is pronounced Vee-yah because the 'la' is a 'yah' sound.
 20.
I think Flea inspired me to start playing bass, but I got really enthusiastic for it when I learned "Lounge Act" by Nirvana it was the first song I thought myself and I still think it's a great bass line.
Lounge Act was probably a similar inspiration for me. I remember hearing that just thinking 'why the f**k would anybody want to play anything else when a bass can sound like that?!' I still feel that now when I hear it!
 21. With reading. It's a real thrill to turn up not really knowing what your fingers will be playing, and then leaving at the end of the night having played a load of music you've never played before without making any mistakes... And playing alongside musicians you've never met or met a limited number of times.
 22. If its gone under, does that mean someone can upload the Pino interview for those of us who just recently signed up and couldn't get the back issues?
 23.
Just a bit of fun for a Friday. Last night, some nut Dingwalled the Fender on my car, a pickup. I let out a deep Sei, but didn't fret too much. I had to walk back home. I had to cross Overwater but luckily there was a bridge. After a Sterling effort by the police, they found the guy, and he's up in Cort on Monday.
Corrected
 24.
I wish I knew, I play guitar not,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Dare I say it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, bass
Who knows, now you've got a nice bass, you might finally be able to step up and play a real instrument!
 25. As bass players, we have to wear our basses high... how else will the women-folk inspect our junk and decide between us or the drummer?!
