Yes! Specifically a USA 70s P + SVT CL + 8X10.
Great combination for sound and coincidentally, also the best combination for a life-time of back problems!

Is it really bad that when I saw the photo of your magnificent bass wall, the first thought that went through my head was 'Wow! A strap for every bass! Now THAT is something to aspire to!'

Best Beatles song to play in a pub band?

Lady Madonna! Great up-tempo tune and nicely written -
Guitarguitar have dropped the price of US Standard Strats/Teles to £799. Clearly an attempt to shift stock to make room for new stuff. It appears that all stores with a Fender dealership will have similar instructions (as Fender want all dealers to only stock the higher priced 2012 stock) so hopefully some room to haggle with the lesser discounted basses and we can possibly get some 'bargains'!
In fairness, it's described as having 'minor marks and scratches' and the seller says he won't accept a return for those stated reasons. The fact that the item was actually described as a bass and turned out to be a guitar instead doesn't come under the 'minor marks and scratches' exclusion.
Oh, I know that. All I'm saying is that if a seller puts 'we wont accept returns for X reason' it's dodgy... Combine that with a stock image of a bass and a description that is clearly meant for a guitar spells trouble.
-
I should have been clearer. The fact that the description discusses '5 way pickup selector' etc and clearly describes a guitar, but has a title mentioning bass and s picture that is clearly just a stock from google images would set alarm bells ringing. Combined with the 'this is why we can not accept any returns' bullsh!t, I would have steered WELL clear.
Yup. I know the description disagrees completely, but I figured it was just a copy and paste job, seeing as it refers to a different finish entirely. Behold it's majesty: http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 Is that not a bass guitar being advertised? Does it not have four strings and a long neck?
To be fair, the only thing that suggests it is a bass is the stock picture. Everything else SCREAMS guitar!

Harvest straps are super comfy! Cost about £40 delivered and made from good quality leather http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Straps-for-Guitar-and-Bass/Strap-short-adjustable-from-102-127-cm/

New US standard strats/teles are going to priced at about £1100-1199. New prices for the American Deluxe series too... £1300 ish! So i guess the bass prices will see a similar jump in price.
I actually like to think my tones ARE the donkey's bollocks - big, sturdy, durable, and can survive pounding the sands of chav towns day in and day out, even if I am a slave in a stupid hat.
Unlike MM's tone, which sounds like Robocop taking a cheese grater to his genitalia! Painful. Clanky. Mindless. Totally unnecessary.
-
that bass tone most certainly sucks donkey bollocks bigtime.
Best. Quote. Ever.

Nearly forgot to add... Traben. Truly vile basses.
How would you describe soul?
Screw soul... The dude needs a decent tone before worrying about soul! Great player almost ruined by a poor tone IMO.

Flatwounds and 'The Mix'. Is it just me, or....

Have to agree with BigRedX... A good engineer gets a good sound regardless. Ive never had a problem with engineers and flats before, but if the engineer is struggling with your flats, surely you wouldnt just accept a crap sound. You would explain how youve gotten a good sound with flats before and take control of/responsibility for your sound. But again, that problem shouldnt occur, because a good engineer wont have a problem with it. -
Warwicks - Like the tone but not the aesthetics. Ricks - Don't like the sound or aesthetics. Status - Too blingy/flashy. Should have 6 strings and be reserved for egotistical guitarists Yamaha - I'm going to be honest. I just don't get what all the fuss is about. Wals - The Delorean of the bass world. Stylistically stuck in the 80s and were never actually cool. Geeks tried to make it cool and in turn created a new low on the geek scale, so lesser geeks finally had someone to bully.
I always wonder about the guys using the smaller single 12 cabinets how you get on with them. You ever struggle for level or monitoring on stage? I know quite a few players using the single Markbass 12's, mostly for portability purposes, something that living up north I've never struggled with because transport has never been an issue (up until last month I had a big Eden rig), however I'm guessing that if I ever make the move to London I'll need to downsize my rig to be able to get around as well. Just curious to know your experiences really!
I use mine on its own for small jazz gigs when volume isn't huge. Most other gigs I use it for monitoring in addition to a DI to the PA. that provides the extra volume and can be adjusted for the front of house sound, and I can have an entirely different (if I want) stage sound for monitoring. I can honestly say, I've played small venues to full on venues with it and it's never ever not done the job (and done it to a superb standard)... Probably why it always confusing me when people choose to bust their balls carrying massive cabs about to every gig when a 1 x 12 can compete quite easily for quality of sound. Having recently borrowed (from the support band) an Ampeg 8 x 10 with a Mesa boogie valve head for a gig down south, I honestly wasn't impressed. It lacked the definition and tonal qualities that my rig has in bucket loads and whilst it offered more power when cranked, the sound guy had a DI so just asked me to turn down on stage anyway. Either way, I couldn't get it to push a sound that I liked. It seemed to be more about rumbling everyone's balls and blowing their eardrums out than offering tonal variety and control. Basically, small rig is great for me and I honestly wouldn't change it for the world.
I suppose the real problem for me is the overly ambitious build time, if your quoted a long time and it is, then its fair enough etc.
You're not the first to cite it as a major issue with Shuker though... Surely Jon could hire more help or take less work on? Or be more realistic in his quotes?
