I've had this pedal for about 4 weeks, so it's in mint condition. I've just found that I've not got much use out of it since my band has taken a bit of a u-turn into a noisier, more hectic direction. Hence I need to fund nasty noise pedals, so this one has to go. I'd describe this pedal as a slightly crazy envelope filter with an awesome step filter function. You can do a lot with it. I found it to sound stunning with an EHX Micro POG running into it on the Step Filter setting and some delay running next in the chain. There's a bunch of demo videos of it on youtube, not many bass ones though. I saw a video of Tayste playing around with one once but I haven't been able to find it since. That video is cool though, if anyone can find it! Its' got the newer paint job (which is now shown on the SubDecay site [url="http://www.subdecay.com/pm.htm)"]http://www.subdecay.com/pm.htm)[/url], I'll post pics when I get in from work. I've put some velcro on the bottom but I still have the rubber feet which I carefully removed. It's very freshly built, April 2009. [b]£150 delivered[/b] with Royal Mail Special Delivery. These pedals are now £175 new, if you can get hold of them. I had to wait well over 2 months for mine. So that's a nice little saving on an as-new pedal.

In reply to the OP: I used an LMK for a couple of years with a variety of basses. I went for the LMK based on its' power, portability and how it let the nuances of different basses shine through. It was a great amp with my vintage Precision and it sounded just as great with my Streamer Stage 1. I think that's testament enough to how flexible this amp can be!

There have been 2 significant price increases throughout many music industry distributors in the past 6 months. The first one was last November and the second was around the beginning of April. It's this damn climate. No one wants to raise their prices but shops are forced to when their suppliers are upping prices, it's simply a knock-on effect. Even UK-built products are being drawn into this because they are often sourcing their materials from outside the UK. Sadly it's something we'll just have to get used to, or at least until the Dollar rate is a bit kinder to us!

I just check it's in tune for standard and drop-d once at the beginning of a gig or rehearsal and I don't need to check it again, I play about 50/50 in standard/dropped.

The Akai Headrush gets my vote. I've used a few loopers and currently have a Boss DD-20 and Akai Headrush on my pedal board. The DD-20 is far more delay orientated but I've always liked the looper function, it's very simple, all you can do with it is record and overdub (as many times as you want). You can't save any loops into it and there's no stop/start function after a loop has been recorded. I mainly use this pedal for its' delay functions though. The Akai Headrush is a more versatile looper and it also sounds a little more organic to my ears. You can also stop and start loops with the Headrush.

change of plan! I've decided to just make one instead. That way I can have the size of casing I want and exactly the kind of switch too. Cheers for the suggestions though chaps.

Where can I get a decent quality, relatively compact tap-tempo switch to use in the 'control out' on my Boss DD-20? It'll take quite a regular kicking so it needs to be sturdy! Ed

I'm starting to think my pedal board would benefit from a limiter at the end of the line as I'm getting a little paranoid about what the overly harsh peaks from my envelope filter might be doing to my poor amp. Can anyone recommend a good limiter pedal? The other option is getting rid of my EBS IQ envelope and getting an envelope filter that has a little more control. I use envelope effects for big ambient effects in songs, never for short funky stabs. So something with a little more control might be a better option. I use my envelope filter a lot so I'm willing to shell out some bucks on something decent if that's a better option. Thoughts? I'm not very familiar with what's out there in the world of envelope filters at the moment. Cheers Ed

I used a TA503 for a couple of years. It was great amp, loads of control over your sound with that EQ. When I bought my first Markbass amp, an LMK, I was tempted with the TA503 but was put off by the price tag, coupled with a lot of people saying the sound difference was not that noticeable. To be honest, I wish I'd gone with the TA503 to begin with because I really could hear the difference. That valve pre-amp gives a warmer, more organic tone and the semi-parametric EQ is simply awesome. I found the semi-parametric EQ to be very useful at gigs for correcting nasty low-mids. I generally found that I'd dial in a punchy hi-mid sound, a little percussiveness from the high control, some fat rounded tones from the low control and like I said, use the low mid for correctional EQ. But this is of course just one way of using that kind of EQ, there are so many possibilities. Like a couple of other guys have mentioned, I'd recommend trying out these amps first, and try to get some volume out of them too. Depending on how loud you play, you'll notice that the TA503 doesn't kick in with this kind of natural compression when the volume is up to around 11 o'clock.

[/quote] edit: forgot to mention, if you stick a nice vintage mic infront of an NV610 with an AD200B you're quite likely too poop yourself from the stunning tone, I've spoken to Basszilla about this before, he had a similar experience. You can also use the slave out on the AD200B as DI out live, I did this for the first time the other day at a gig and had a lot of compliments on my tone - so it must have sounded alright!

Mr Shuker has this amazing knack of keeping bass designs so sleek and stylish without making them look like exquisite coffee tables. This is something like the 4th time I've been back to look at this bass in the last day. GAS is a terrible thing.
