First bass I ever bought (after borrowing my dad's jazz to learn on) was a second hand Warwick Thumb 4 bolt-on with one of those slim 90's necks. That was 7 years ago and it's still very often my go-to bass for studio stuff. I couldn't part with it. I've since bought a custom shop Streamer Stage 1 and it's an absolute dream to play and where ever possible I'll use it live. Funny thing is though, I don't really use either of these basses at rehearsals or to write music on. They just pull through when I really need that tone and feel!
Oooh, me me me! You interested in any trades on this, or is it sale only? Either way, I'm very interested that is one slick looking beast!
Sadly I can't justify any new additions to my bass family at the moment so this one's just for sale. -

Since I don't play this bass at all anymore and I've been playing almost exclusively 6 string fretted instruments for over a year, it's gotta go! Some of you old school BC'ers might remember these pics from when I originally posted them a few years ago. The pickups in the bass in these pics are different now, those were some stock MIM Jazz Pickups, it's now got an EMG J Set with the completely black covers. WD Jazz style neck: Maple w/ebony fretboard and off-white fret markers. See here: http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/BASS_NECK...E_MARKERS_BEFL# WD Black Jazz body: Alder. See here: http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Jazz_Bass_Body_Black_JBBK Gotoh Vintage Style Machine Heads (Black) http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Vintage_S...k_Chrome_GB-2LB EMG J Set Jazz Pickups Official Badass Bridge II (Black) Q Parts Knobs http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Dome_knob..._Black_DABSRD-B Electronics: Volume/Volume/Tone. I can't remember exactly which pots I put inside this bass but it's all decent stuff, I didn't scrimp on anything when I put this together. If anyone wants to know what kind of pots they are I'll have a look. All other hardware: BLACK! All screws, plates etc are black and from WD music. The nut is a decent quality bone nut that was shaped specifically for this bass from a block. Weight: 10lbs So as you can see from all the spec here, this bass cost over £600 to put together. I didn't scrimp on any of the parts. It's been setup with Rotosound Pressure Wound strings, which from experimenting with different types of strings, give a great mid-range kick. It's great for that Jaco tone! The EMG's work very well in this bass, I've also had a set of pickups in it from a Fender USA Jazz Standard, they sounded very good and pronounced the softer more vintage tones but I preferred the extra punch of the EMG's. I've spent quite some time setting this bass up. It feels smooth to play and it's got pretty low action at the moment. It is a little bit neck heavy due to the maple neck, which is noticeable when sitting down with the bass, however with a Comfort Strapp this isn't a problem when stood up. I'd definitely recommend a Comfort Strapp with this bass, or similar, as it isn't the lightest bass out there at 10lbs. My one little grumble about this bass is that the truss rod can only be adjusted when the neck is taken off the body as the nut for this is on the other end of the neck. Pretty annoying! However with a set of 45-105's on this bass you shouldn't ever need to adjust this as it's currently setup with just a little curvature for low string height. There's some tarnishing to the knobs and a couple of the black screws, where they're just not as black as they should be! There's also 2 tiny dings in the bass, each of which measuring just a few MM. One is just above the bridge pickup and one is on the edge of the body below the input jack. These marks are very minor and only noticeable on close inspection. £250 + P&P. Pick up or meet in the middle preferred. I'm in Plymouth, I'll happily drive up to Taunton services to meet for the sale, or similar distance in the opposite direction. This is a lot of bass for the money! Any questions welcome and if you'd like to come and give it a play then be my guest

I've got 2 cases that I don't need anymore, both have been well looked after. I'm based in Bristol and would prefer collection or meet 1/2 way for these cases. I can send them, but we'll have to figure something out there as and when. Diago Tourman Pedalboard £80 - Excellent condition. This pedal board is surplus to requirements as I've down scaled my pedal addiction. It's seen 3 gigs and numerous band practices. Always well looked after. I think I have some of the original (and unused) velcro for it too. There is a scuff across the front of it but it isn't deep, it's just a light scuff that isn't down to the wood. Hopefully it's visible in the pics below: You can see the feint scuff across the top of the case here, it runs just over the diago logo (although the logo isn't scuffed). Please excuse the dust! The case will be cleaned and vacuumed inside! There is a dent in the foam in the top of the case on the left hand side, shown here. It's not deep though and doesn't effect the case. Hiscox Liteflight Standard Bass Case £40 - Excellent condition again. This case hasn't seen any gig action, just a few band practices. It's been used for storage more than anything else. There are a few light scuffs on the case but they're too small to take pics of. There's a few stickers on the case, I thought I had some sticker remover stuff but I can't find it! I should be able to get rid of them in the next day or two once i buy some more sticker remover. I also have the key for the case to lock one of the latches. Pics below: Any questions please PM me Thanks, Ed

The Maplin one sounds ideal, but it's not gonna do that annoying thing where you can't really plug things in next to it on a 4-way is it? That would be a problem!

Is this the one you mentioned Kev? I see there's a few on there. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=43055

That looks ideal, thanks Kev. It's a shame I placed an order with Maplin only 2 days ago and I was wondering what I could add to it to get free delivery

Where's the best place to acquire a replacement power supply for a Digitech Whammy? I've had a search on the forum but couldn't see anything. I imagine this is quite a popular question since Digitech have been so awkward in making a power supply specifically for this pedal. Ed

Unfortunately we're still experiencing some technical difficulties on the Sound Unlimited website today. The office phone lines are still a go-go as usual so if we can be of any help in the meantime please call 01752 265 312. We can still operate Google Checkout and Paypal for invoices whilst the site is down. Thanks, Ed

Thanks! It looks like the site should be back up at around 4pm. In the mean time if I can be of any help just PM me.

Hi BlueFalcon, I work for Sound Unlimited. We're just having some temporary website issues! We'll be back online shortly.
do you mind me asking why the middle position? you'd be much better off replacing the input or the phase splitter valve!
I've been meaning to try it in different positions. I don't know a whole lot about the tech side of valve amps. The reason it's in the middle is because when it was serviced the pre-amp valve in the middle position was showing up as a bit weak.

SOLD! 12/11/09 Back up for sale! £750. I used it for some studio work a couple of weeks ago and it sounded FAT! I also had it serviced the other day as I ran it pretty hard in the studio - it's all in tip top condition I've decided to make it free fully insured shipping on this one, but I'm keeping this sale UK only. [s]17/09/09 - I'm putting the sale of this amp on hold. I've just found out I've got some session work in a few weeks that this amp will be great for. Depending on my money situation, it might be back up for sale after then.[/s] This is such a stunning amp and I find it painful to have to do this but I need the dollar, so something's gotta go. My Gallien Krueger with Rusty Box pre-amp suits what I'm doing at the moment. So here goes... Orange AD200B mk3, roughly 18 months old, well looked after, decent quality fitted padded cover included. Re-valved the output in January this year and put an old Philips 12AT7 in the middle position of the pre-amp. This has just made the gain a little smoother, the amp sounds a bit more old-school for it but you can still get those very aggressive "Converge" tones from it when the gain is cranked. I had the amp serviced and biased by a professional (I can supply the invoice/notes from the service). It's currently at my practice place but I can get pics of it tomorrow when I bring it home. It's in immaculate condition. I think I still even have the original box! You're welcome to collect. I'd prefer bank transfer or cheque, I don't mind paypal but please add 3% to the price if you want to use that. PM me any questions. Ed
A special prize does have to go to my Yamaha TRB4. They can be picked up for next to nothing and are just brilliant in every respect - apart from being in any way 'cool'. Much underrated.
+1. They're cracking basses, I got a 6 string TRB1006 recently. It's so.. playable! My favourite is my Streamer Stage 1. Light weight, bites through the mix, P & J pickups, down-tunes well and is a pleasure to play. That ticks all the boxes for me!

I've seen them a few times but the most memorable was at the Brixton Academy when they'd just released their self titled album, I remember feeling blown away by the intensity of that gig. They can be such a full-on live act when they're in the right venue!
