Well the FI is the much more home-grown product over here and vice versa for the C4? 😊

And so 'Frankie' is done all bar the set up ... but I'm letting her settle in and get used to being a bass again before going mad with the action. I brought her up to concert pitch with the nervousness of a bomb disposal officer sat astride a ticking World War aerial mine! Fresh in my mind the first imploding Chinese biscuit material bridge. I needn't have worried. Plenty of graphite in the bridge slots and she was a good'n. So from this to this And how does she sound? Well I'm gobsmacked by how loud she is, I mean the Superior Bassworks Dirty Gut Deluxe strings are not known for huge volume, but the power and projection the old girl has is quite remarkable. I'm getting rather fond of the way she appears jet black in some light and dark brown in others 🙂 Yep I need to cut the nut slots a smidge deeper, and the action could come down a good 4mm at the bridge and still be 'slap worthy'. The oil varnish needs to harden a while longer before it can have a good polish ... and I need to buy a rubber chicken to put inside the bass ... so that when folks ask 'what's the little hatch for?' ... I can reach in and produce it! So after a set up I'm going to look at pickups - ideally something that I can use an adaptor to plug into my Shadow Rockabilly Pro preamp - thus saving on buying two preamps to have both basses gig ready.

Finale carbon fibre bow - how much?
Duckyincarnate replied to TKenrick's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Perhaps 60% or so of the new price? Unlike quality wooden bows, these don't really hold their value in the same way in my very limited experience. -
interesting how this thread ended up talking about the Fi4 - and the US version ended up talking about the C4 ... !

Ashdown did purple tolex speaker cabs for Geezer Butler a couple of weeks ago, imo made them look cool and rather forbidding - I dare say the look that Geezer had in mind.

Year started playing: 1978 Number of basses: 1 ( PBass ) Music theory: 5 Technique: 5 Groove 7 Personally I put more emphasis in fitting my sound to the band / song and less theory and scales etc I think listening is as important as playing IE when not to play !

Sounds - from an iPhone speaker at least - like a grounding issue to me.

Year started playing: 1980 Number of basses: 3 (that I use) Music theory: ??? Technique: ??? Groove: ??? I’m not sure on the last three, I usually make a band sound better when I join than they did before but to be honest I don’t really play/do that much so I couldn’t grade myself.

Some look just like the squiggle used by the lowlife FedEx driver to indicate my package had been delivered and signed for………but he’d nicked it. -

Thanks Kiwi. Do we have a ball park cost? Colour me interested too 😊

I've added in midi to the FI additional capabilities list on my earlier above.

Sounds good! I think where I'm heading is that the FI with 99 presets is capable of being much more than "just" an excellent synth pedal. Why not have banks dedicated to some of the commonly used fx that the FI does well e.g. Bank 2 modulation - chorus, delay etc. Bank 3 octave and pitch shift etc.? It then becomes a synth / multifx.

Thank you for the explanation. My Epiphone LP is in bits so can't try it. It was used on bridge pickup, full volume & tone. I never got to know the controls. Good job really, I might think it's broken too I'd sussed the circuits are all joined and wasn't entirely convinced of my fix. Since no one else has fixed physics to work properly either, I'm going to call it a learning success. The final process that the electrics got was a fix to the dodgy jack socket, then squeeze and reform the shape of the wires and caps so they sit nice, and put the cover back on. It sounds a lot better now without the jack socket spinning about intermittently shorting. I've heard both tones working but need to update my test method and expected outcomes before I validate their function. I'll do that when I'm tired of playing it.

So would I. In fact I’ve added a poll to the FI Facebook group to ask.

PS same works with my Scarlett 2i2, you could use one channel for bass and the other for the mono backing track perhaps? -

I recently realised I can use the boss Katana:Go connected via USB to my iphone to record my bass directly in the camera app. It wouldn't record the AUX in though so you'd still need to sync up to the backing track audio. It'd probably be less faffy than syncing video to audio though.
