  2. Also DIY neck roasting! 😂 It's a Fb Reel, if I knew how to embed it I would, but I don't, so I can't. Mark

  4. We had a great night with a great crowd at The Bend Theatre opening for Reverend Raven. We sold 230 tickets $18.00-$20.00. The place only holds 300. We played from 7:30- 8:30. I could tell from the sound check that were clicking on all 6 cylinders. I got mobbed in the lobby as I was leaving.lol Daryl
  5. Cool pics and love that pick. Daryl
  6. Did anybody ever PM you with anything? I’d love to hear those recordings, as would many! Unicorn album!!
  7. I decided to go back to university to do a Masters and the fees are killing me. Could do with getting some money in, offers will be considered, and likely accepted very quickly.
  8. Apologies for the delay, yes still available. Could be, I just googled it and assumed it was the same name as they are currently - despite the different shape.
  9. Maybe it is meant to be played more like an NS:Stick, but then the fan frets make very little sense. I suspect it was one of those 'because I can' rather than 'because I should' instruments.

  11. True and I agree that the true beauty of a 5 string is playing across the neck and making life easier for yourself. I've started to move back towards 4 strings recently but if I need a 5, I use a 5.
  12. I used a capo on a 5-string for Whole Lotta Rosie as we were doing it a semitone down and it's a nightmare to play if you don't use the open A. Then the singer decided he could cope with standard tuning so I never did a gig with the capo, but I would quite happily have done so.
  13. #spiritofbasschat -always innovating @ped cheque please
  14. Probably - the thickest string is on the left rather than in the middle. But the hand on the bass side (assuming it isn't played with both hands on the treble side) has to cope with frets that are fanned in the wrong direction for the anatomy of the hand.
  15. If you were using a capo would you need the low B? otherwise agree 100%
  16. Let me tell you a story … years ago I tried 5 string and I totally didn’t get it. I sold that aria magna 5 i bought a sire v7 5 and it just worked … but my thoughts also changed to what actually worked don’t buy a 5 string expecting to use those low notes, that opportunity will be vanishingly rare use that low string only when you realise that you’d need to use open strings on a four string example : teenaged dirtbag e a b a using open strings it is a muting nightmare but playing accross from fret 5 of b string, it is not and you can easily shift up or down to suit the singer
  17. Slip Slidin' Away - Paul Simon
  18. Update: All five necks have been constructed. They are being prep sanded this weekend. Clear coating will begin this week.
  19. I echo this as I have been fortunate enough to hold one of these marvellous creations @Jabba_the_gut you might also like the work of @Simo
  20. Whatever works for you but I'm slightly confused as to why you would need to use a capo with a 5 string bass for songs in Eb or D unless I've read the post incorrectly. Also can you get capos wide enough for a 5 string neck? Not sure if it would have sufficient pressure for the low B.
  21. Especially if that something is a belt 👍
  22. Yes, those pesky children and their ridiculous demands for food, clothes, warmth and shelter. I mean WTF is that all about.? 🤷‍♂️
  23. Actually I made a mistake. It had Nordstrand Big Singles originally. That’s where I was confused. I don’t have the original pickups. I already sold them. I updated the ad with the correct info. Thanks for the heads up!
  24. My point was that you can make it sound p bass like. Think outside of the box
