  2. I don't know who originally made it but I've had it a couple of years and added a Thunderbird neck. It's had a Rickenbacker 5 string pickup, so will need re-routing for another shape. Has a KiOgan wiring loom and the cavities have copper conductive tape. Paint job - not good - Halfords finest put on too quickly and not sanded down. Top is finished with a vinyl wrap (which doesn't hide the paint inconsistencies underneath). Great if you want that 'Rat' look.

  3. Just to clarify this is a Fender MIJ 62RI body and an Allparts (also MIJ) 70s-style Jazz neck. Allparts in my experience are at or above Fender USA quality - not quite a good as Warmoth but a significant step up from for example Mighty Mite and Fender MIM - and this neck is no exception. Neck retails at £419 without tuners, nut etc https://allparts.uk.com/collections/bass-necks/products/replacement-neck-for-j-bass-rosewood-board-w-finish-w-binding-block-inlays
  4. I've always loved these since I learned that Trevor Dunn used one with Mr. Bungle. Got any sounds? Curious to hear how it compares to my Elan
  5. Up for grabs is my Protec Contego bass semi rigid case in fantastic condition. A small number of superficial marks from use but it doesn't have any holes and all the zips work perfectly. are currently £158 on Thomann. I'm asking £75 collected from lovely Wellingborough or £85 posted within the UK. I'm looking for a sale, no trades, ta.
  6. Which is why I've thoughtfully added a postage option so that potential buyers don't have to suffer the trauma and indignity of visiting the god forsaken place should they choose not to.
  7. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  8. Cant see anything surpassing my CV 70 for 250 quid. Its got the thickest 70's neck Ive seen on any repro.
  9. bump
  10. Yeah I did move it round a bit before we started, so many bloody cables behind it as usual. Yes the yammy’s been a bit of a revelation since I got it actually. Extremely light bass as well, quite handy seeing as it was a very long setlist last night! all my best, Jeff
  11. That looks great. Hope you'll report back on how it sounds in the field.
  12. Come on Daryl. Its sad when your highlight from a gig is the food but i get and appreciate where you're coming from. 😂 Dave
  13. I don't know what you've got the pick up wired to, but if it's nothing more than a passive volume/tone setup you shouldn't get too much of an interfered with reading off the output jack, provided the passive volume/tone are full up. I'm going by memory here but I think mine read around 7-8k in series so 3.5-4k in parallel out to be about right.
  14. Seems an odd positioning of your bass cab there @tubbybloke68 ? Angled inwards towards the drum monitor rather than out front. Any particular reason. Just curious. I do like those Yamaha TRB basses. Dave
  15. This is not moving so I wonder if anyone has a different model of alembic that they would consider a trade for cash either way. Ideally i'd be interested in an older series bass but all alembic options considered. Actually, i might also consider a decent acoustic double bass too.
  16. Coincidence to be honest. But I liked it and sometimes find fewer limiting - especially lack of a top E.
  17. These were used just once but didn’t suit the bass that they went into, so they are ‘as new’. Delano hum free split coil JMVC 5 FE/M2 ultra-fast transient 5-string bass pickup features state-of-the-art transducer technology combined with avant-garde cosmetics. Strong bass, warm low mid’s, clean mid response with lightning-fast attack and brilliant treble that stays right there from your most subtle into your heaviest playing even if your 5-string bass is drop tuned to sub zero. Five massive 9.5mm poles capture every slight movement of your strings. These are Fender American Standard size: · Neck 101.5mm long x 18.6mm wide · Bridge 104.6mm long x 18.6mm wide A brand new set of these will set you back £200 from Bass Direct, I’m asking just £140 delivered mainland UK.
  18. As new, only used once and in the original box as you can see from the pictures. Don’t know why but I preferred my Sadowsky pre-amp. As you would expect, this unit is in immaculate condition as it was only in the bass for a few weeks. All in the original box. Technical info: The J-Core preamp takes our widely acclaimed Flexcore Onboard Bass Preamp to the next level - now in a hassle-free Jazz Bass plate drop-in design. No modifications, no soldering, just pure performance. Powered by the incredibly flexible and supremely musical Mike Pope-designed preamp with a 4-band EQ, the J-Core puts tonal control at your fingertips. With internally selectable EQ points for each band and refined signal path enhancements, it’s designed to bring out the best in every note you play. All this, plus a 9-volt battery, fits neatly into your existing Jazz Bass control cavity. Effortless design meets exceptional sound. We’ve swapped out traditional jumper-style selectors inside the J-Core for intuitive rocker-style mini switches. These make it easier than ever to fine-tune the frequency centres of each of the 4 EQ bands, allowing you to customize the EQ to match your bass’s unique voice and your personal tonal preferences. With selectable frequencies at 46Hz or 90Hz, 330Hz or 473Hz, 600Hz or 900kHz, and 6kHz or 10kHz, the J-Core offers precise control to shape your sound exactly how you like it. Additional switches allow for 0, 3, 6, or 8 dB of output gain. A hallmark of a truly versatile Jazz Bass is its passive tone control. Some players prefer a subtle tone roll-off that preserve’s midrange presence, while others lean toward a darker, more classic passive tone. The J-Core comes stock with a .022 Cap and can be easily customized with an additional through-hole parallel capacitor. For years, the Flexcore has set the benchmark for players seeking unparalleled fidelity, clarity, and warmth from their active instruments. Until now, however, it wasn’t available as a drop-in replacement for Jazz Basses. With the J-Core, you can finally bring the renowned flexibility and performance of the Flexcore into the Fender universe— elevating your sound without changing what you love about your instrument. FREQUENCY SPECIFICATIONS Treble: +/- 15dB at 6kHz or 10kHz Hi Mid: +/- 15dB at 600Hz or 900Hz Lo Mid: +/- 12dB at 330Hz or 473Hz Bass: +/- 12dB at 46Hz or 90Hz This Trickfish J-Core is the 4-band active preamp version with SIDE mounted jack. Currently for sale in Bass Direct for £285 but you can buy this one for just £200 delivered in mainland UK.
  19. what a mighty machine could play some imperial circus dead decadence with this, one of my favourite bands

  22. For Sale: 1995 MusicMan Stingray 2EQ "Velvet Satin" Ltd Edition in Natural Ash with Aguilar Pickup & Aguilar OBP-2 Preamp. I'll start by saying that this is the best Stingray I've ever played/heard. It has a beautifully satin finished (not gunstock oiled, thankfully!) slim neck, and the punch/tone from the Aguilar OBP-2 Preamp & Aguilar AG4M pickup are second to none. I had the Aguilar pickup reinstalled earlier this year, which is voiced like a late seventies model. (There is a routing for a single coil under the scratch plate as well, as this bass was previously a HS - this means it has four controls, but the second knob only blends to a single coil on the Humbucker.). This Ash bodied Stingray is also very light, at around 8.8lbs. Condition wise, I would give it a solid nine out of ten. It has the odd tiny, almost invisible ding, but this is in remarkable order for a 30 year old bass. Also, 30 year old Ash/Maple also resonates like you wouldn't believe. It has sustain for days. The bass comes complete with a 2005 MM Anniversary brown Hard Shell Case with gold interior & an unused spare String Mute kit from Bass Direct. Price is £1550, interesting trades considered. Buyer to collect from Derbyshire DE7, or will meet half way up to 100 miles. (Up to 200 miles total distance.)
