  2. Hi, It would be possible to make the tweeter work, but you may need to do more work than simply cutting the hole & wiring it in. Did you ever play the Ashdown cab as-is before starting your project? If so, did you find the tweeter level about right in either of the 2 switch positions & if so, which one? If you were happy with the tweeter level with the "high" switch setting, then you'll be fine - just make sure that you transfer over all of the tweeter's associated crossover, level adjusting resistors etc to the new cab. If you preferred the sound of the tweeter at the "low" setting, then you may find it too bright when used with just one 10", so you'd likely need to calculate values and source resistors for an L-Pad with more attenuation. Re repurposing the main body of your Ashdown cab for your 15" driver, it's certainly possible, but as ever in Audio, It Depends. In this case, it depends on the particular model of 15" you have, its Thiele Small parameters, the net internal volume of the Ashdown box and the internal dimensions of its port(s). All of those would need to be known before any credible advice could be given. HTH, David.
  3. From an original music stand point does it really matter? Streaming has already ended the album/single sales business model. There is money to be made with touring/merch/interactive services like patreon etc that bands are turning to of they want to pursue music as a career. There is however catastrophic consequences for SFX/Foley artists, background music etc. These industries will go the way of graphic design as studios will always value profits over people Even in my day job working in manufacturing I see more and more ai tools coming in to replace various roles, admin/planning etc It's sad to see but the monkey is out of the bottle now!
  4. This is a superb bass combo with a huge range of tones. I've had it since new (original owners manual will be included in the sale) and it's been gigged all over the country and it's never missed a beat. It's been regularly serviced and well looked after. There are a few marks on the tolex, but nothing visible from the front. Everything works as it should. It comes with a great quality padded cover by Hotcovers. It's 300w, but with an extension cab, it'll go up to 500w. I'm in Halesowen in the Wild West Midlands and you're welcome to come and check it out. Bring biscuits. I do a fair bit of travelling, so delivery may be an option. If you're looking for a rock solid reliable workhorse of a bass cab, this is for you. Specs: 2 x 10" drivers 300watts at 8ohms 27" x 18" x 16" Adjustable tweeter

  5. Exactly! The headstock should have 2 extra holes as well and should be black.
  6. I think we are already being flooded with it, my YT is about 90% reggae and I’d say half of that at the moment is AI, some of it is extremely good, it’s even had me looking up the artists which I hadn’t heard of but they don’t exist, they are also using pictures of famous artists to draw you in but it’s not them, I don’t know how they get away with that one
  7. I stopped using a Class 3B laser several years ago for this reason. In smaller venues it's very difficult to operate these in accordance with the safety guidelines and any public liability insurance you may have is unlikely to cover you if you can't provide evidence that you have operated it in accordance with the safety guidelines.
  8. Yes indeed, I have one but would like a second, for a monster small but heavy rig. I contacted Ashdown who said they’re very popular and they may consider revising the model. Maybe I’m just being greedy, but I live in hope.
  9. Id be happy to donate a pretty case to the new owner for the price of postage😊 Which could actually be me tbf. Interested
  10. It’s a copy of Mark Sandman’s bass, which was a 4 string with only 2 strings on it, so it’s quite accurate in that regard.
  11. Really clean ones do carry a bit of a premium, so I would say for a private sale £4250 - £4750. Dealers will want quite a bit more. "These are just my thoughts and should not be relied upon when making serious financial investments" 🤣 Rob
  12. I am selling 2 x BBII. Price is £600 each. Both are in excellent/immaculate condition with no dings or marks. Both have padded covers. These cabs are insanely good and very very loud. Can be used single or in parallel for more output. Pics to follow asap.
  13. The return of "basses near the settee"
  14. I have a 2011 SR5 and the three sounds are quite distinctive. When the switch is back toward the bridge, the pickup coils are wired in parallel. The sound is slightly scooped or hollow. This is the classic Stingray tone as produced by the 4 strings. Toward the neck gives you the coils in series, a powerful punchy tone that I find the most useful one. And on post 2008 models, the middle position is series wiring plus a filter, which to my ears rolls off the top end and slightly accentuates the bottom. It’s a sort of vintage series sound. There’s no single coil mode after 2008.
  15. It's likely I will buy one directly when I purchase new cables from FTT towards the end of the year
  16. "A Music Man Stingray 5's 3-way pickup selector switch offers three distinct tonal settings for the humbucking pickup: series, parallel, and a hum-canceling single-coil mode. Series mode provides the classic, punchy Stingray sound, while parallel offers a thinner, more scooped tone, and single-coil provides a hum-canceling, brighter alternative." So you should have three distinctively different sounds there. I'd take it to your local music shop/tech and get them to have a look at it. It sounds like a simple enough fix, maybe a new blade switch is in order.
  17. Thank you. I've been very tempted by the Markbass Little Mark IV, as I fancied a change to be honest. After a random search though, I've managed to source a 2nd hand Ashdown RM EVO 500 ii, from one of the big online music retailers. It's due to be delivered on Tuesday, fingers crossed. The Peavey MiniMax is a good amp, but I think a change is in order. I had an Ashdown ABM600 chrome faced head once. It sounded really good, unfortunately it had a fault whereby it would hiss as the note decayed. The RM isn't an ABM but I think it'll fit in with what I'm playing now. What has struck me whilst searching, is how the level of choice and availability has dropped. Again, thank you.
  18. I suspect we're about to be hit by a tidal wave of AI generated music. The idea you can potentially get an AI to write a hit song for you in minutes despite having zero musical ability has all the makings of a classic 'get rich quick' scheme. Of course most of the resulting music won't get any commercial traction at all, but that won't stop large numbers of people churning the stuff out in the hope of getting that one track that hits the jackpot.
  19. I have a 2015 Stingray 5 which I've had a couple of years. I like it a lot and I think it's the only bass I've played at gigs this year. However, I do wonder if there is an issue with it. All three selections on the pickup selector switch sound identical. Perhaps it's my unrefined ear, but no matter what I do, I can't hear any difference whatsoever between the three positions which makes me wonder if it is working properly. I will upload a sound sample later, but in the meantime was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it should sound noticeably different on the three switch positions. It does appear to switch something when going between the positions, but sounds the same to me when landing on the positions. If I wedge the switch between two of the positions, it clearly becomes single coil as it has a thinner sound and I can hear the single coil hum. I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of anyone who has a Stingray 5 as to whether you think my bass my be faulty or if Musicman deliberately designed the selector switch to be utterly pointless!
  20. Anything from 4-5k I’d say depending on condition and if it has the original case
  21. People who know how to properly write promts with context etc can make music in minutes... Rick is no ai expert, but does a reasonable job in this tongue-in-cheek vid.
  22. Something not right with this one to me, I can’t exactly put my finger on it, maybe it’s the white guard and newer knob’s that’s throwing it, neck pocket doesn’t look right and the truss rod nut is proud which would suggest it’s been packed out maybe with washers, not sure about this one
  23. Today
  24. I can lend you a butter knife and you could go at it like Jaco, if you like.
