If intonation is ok but it's sharp as early as the 1st fret then the nut is cut too high.

As above. This is a 2019 model. Great condition. A few very small blemishes which I’ve tried to picture but are really hard to catch on camera and can’t really be seen unless intentionally looking. (2 on top horn, one near bridge and one or two very little ones near the control plate) Also a little bit of bucklerash as this has been gigged for a year or so but nothing major. No noticeable marks to my eyes on the headstock. Really nice bass. Hipshot tuners which I’m not sure whether or not are standard but they’re on there since I bought it… Recently (3 weeks ago) professionally set up with EB Medium Slinkies. with a slight fret dress, so it’s a really nice low action with no high spots or choking. Honestly, plays like butter, whatever that plays like! I’ve also had the pickup cavity and pick guard copper shielded at the same time so it no longer has that pesky Mustang Hum. Only selling because try as I might, I just can’t seem to make it work for me. The split coil pickup which the Mustang is famous for sounds awesome but I can’t make it fit in my main gig and find myself craving more ‘honk’ that comes from having a bridge pickup. Comes with a full size bass hard case which I’ve adapted to fit the short scale with some wood & foam. Works a treat. Also comes with Schaller S Locks. And, I think I’ve got an old set of Fender flatwounds cut to fit it which I’ll chuck in. The original strap pins are also in the case and I can knock £20 off if you don’t want the Schallers. I can also include the Fender strap for an additional £10. Looking for £650 £630 collected from TF5 where I have very nice coffee and a biscuit or 2 available, and a nice amp you can try through. Or, i think i have a box and can pack up if you wanted to organise a courier. And… I can potentially meet within about 30-40 mins of TF5 . Will consider trades/part trades for short scales especially a Fender Japan Junior Jazz Bass or Gibson Jr Les Paul Tribute, and potentially 5 strings. I’ve re-listed this with a price increase due to fix the majority of the issues with it. So… A friend messaged as soon as I posted it last time saying he wanted to buy it. Long story short he messed me around for a couple of weeks and never ended up actually buying it. So, I decided to keep hold of it and get it cleaned up. I took it to my local tech who contact cleaned it and added a new power input jack so all of the crackling has gone. But, he said it needs a new foot switch and it sometimes doesn’t fully engage when pressed the first time. As I was only using it at home I didn’t bother spending more on the switch as he charged me £30 for the clean up and new input. But I’m just not using it so decided to re list it. It was £80 last time so was going to re list at £105 inc postage in order to to get a little back from the clean up spend. Here’s a video of it showing the intermittent footswitch. He said it’s a fairly simple fix, I just didn’t want to spend any more of it at that point. The original listing below… 100% on how to price this but… It’s in desperate need of a service and needs the power connection replacing as it’s a bit loose. Note - this was converted to be powered only years ago and no longer runs on batteries. They go anywhere between £160-£200 brand new with box etc in a good condition. Which, this is not. It was bought for me as a Christmas present in about 2003/4 (Imagine my parents face when they read ‘Russian big muff’ on my Xmas list 😂) Used solidly for about 8 years and has signs of such use including remnants of the gaffer tape I used to use to hold the position of the knobs. It’s sat in storage since about 2011. So, I’m going to put it up at £80 which is half of the cheapest perfect condition, working price I’ve seen. You say intonation is good, at which fret? How far up the neck do you have to go before it's in tune?

Have you tried EB Cobalt flats? I spend half my life playing various kinds of dance music and for me they're the best strings by far for those kinds of genres, albeit I'm playing it mostly on Stingray (and other MM pickup basses) rather than a P bass. They have the solid punch and bite of roundwounds but do away with all the metallic clank and fret noise, which I find works well for emulating basslines that are often synth or sequenced to start with. They can also get pretty dark and mellow for the soul stuff with the tone rolled back.

Interesting how different we all are. I played rounds all my life and just constantly hated the squeakig strings, the rubbing against my fingertips, the cheesegrater feel, the accidental sliding metallic overtones (yeah, that's mostly my crap technique's fault but still). I do love the touch of a flat, and these days there are more hybrid-sounding strings which tends to be my choice, like the cobalt flats from EB.

Hi All, I have an SBMM SB14, the original active one, not the new passive one. I am considering either upgrading to a USA Sterling or upgrading the pickup and preamp in the SB14. Questions I have are: 1. How close are the electronics in the SB14 to the USA Sterling and is the upgrade worth it in sound terms? I have heard the SB14 is pretty close to USA spec in this regard 2. If I was to upgrade the electronics in the SB14 instead, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks 😁

This is the latest addition, it's a high/low pass filter which I'm using as a 'thumpinator' because my new amp doesn't have one built in unlike the previous one. It's a clone of a Broughton Low+High that I bought as a rough nearly-finished project and rehoused in a nicer/smaller enclosure. It's an always-on, so to be honest I needn't have bothered with the footswitch, but it was already built so I kept it. Annoyingly the drill slipped when I was drilling the low pass hole so it doesn't quite line up. When it gets so I can't look at it without cringing, I'll rehouse it again with no switch.

I love the sound of flats on a P and I wish I could get that tone on mine, the problem is that I absolutely hate the way flats feel. For me they feel almost slimy, they make me want to wash my hands. Hard to describe, but there's no way I could play them for any length of time. Maybe I'm just weird, but eucchhh. No.
