JPJ started following Big-A$$ Bass Head Build

This is going to look lush imho - very retro. I remember a guitarist friend back in the late ‘70s having a 40W valve ‘Bolt’ combo in a similar natural wood finish that I thought looked so classy compared to the usual dinged up tolex look.

So I'm going to try again to let go of this bitsa jazz bass. It's so light at just 7lb3oz that's it's always a joy to sling over your shoulder. It's easy to play and balances well thanks to the hipshot ultralight tuners. It currently has an East retro 01 preamp fitted to it and if you wanted it with this it would be £325, but if you prefer the passive control plate I can switch it for that and it's £200. All the gritty details of the build are listed under 'The Amazing Seven-Pound (7lb) Jazz!' on basschat from 2020. Just put that title into Google and you'll get the page. It features Entwhistle pickups, ceramic at the neck and neo at the bridge, a gotoh bridge and hipshot machine heads. Collection from Meanwood Leeds.

Most of my double bass gigs are now amp less as we’re an acoustic trio playing small pub type venues where I can monitor via FOH. For my electric gigs I’m still amped up, albeit a much smaller rig than I used to use and whilst we’re all using IEM’s, our PA isn’t man enough to handle the whole band with authority in the larger venues we play. On my double bass gigs I share the OPs joy of turning up with just my bass and my pedal board and one day hope to do the same on electric gigs too.

Barely used, in nearly mint condition. Very early serial number. No box. Can ship or can be picked up in London NW2. I just don't use it that much anymore so i'd rather it goes to a good home. Its a great pedal, very pedalboard friendly and sounds awesome. The metering is helpful too. Setting marks taken off!

Second gig for my originals band last Saturday evening in Reading. Gig put on by a local promoter who has delt with our guitarist before. All new to me and was slightly nervous as only required to take Squier PJ-555 and pedalboard. Happy to find Markbass lm3 and 2x10 cab supplied. Small pub but a sizable enthusiastic crowd for the four bands. We were on second and went down very well. Friendly sound man and I could hear everything fine which encouraged me to do my backing Vox. I'm not great but it's so much easier when you can hear yerself. Lots of positive comments from audience members and one of the other bands want us to do a gig with them in September.....so far so good.

Sterling Stingray intermittently conks out
Little Helios replied to Little Helios's topic in Repairs and Technical
Yes. The battery wasn't going flat, it was just that the sound would die on me and then come back when plugged in again a few hours later. I sent it back to the retailer to be fixed under warranty and it looks like they've been successful, so I'll post an update when I get it back from them.
