Welcome back Bassassin! In this forum, you shine out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark.

Why thank you, Mr. Twit! It's good to see all the usual suspects still here after such a long time. It's like I never left!

Musky - don't think it's a Mat - the body's ply and all the Mat J copies I can remember had veneered butcher-block or solid timber bodies. Apart from the 3-piece neck it's completely identical to the Columbus-brand J copies from the mid-70s (I've had several!) so I'd be inclined to think it came from the same factory as those. Regarding that neck, many of the "good" Japanese factories used this method, including Kasuga & Fujigen. Anecdotally bodies & necks often came from different manufacturers so I'd be inclined to think that might be the case with this one.

To the OP - unfortunately "Made in Japan copy" is as accurate as it's possible to be with many unbranded basses - pretty much all of the brand names from that era were importer/exporter names & nothing to do with the factories that made them, so unless it's possible to work out which specific factory made the instrument, the best you can say is "70s MIJ Jazz copy".

See, I'm quite hopeless without you to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Another Aria Pro II Cardinal Series bass. 99p start, so it'll sell for the correct market price as of this time. Anyone who is after a CSB at the moment seems to be spoiled for choice. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARIA-PRO-II-BASS-GUITAR-CSB-380-RED-FULL-SIZE-22-FRET-USED-/171175246554?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27dad6fada

Washburn Force 8 - Crikey, this is rather nice. Buy it now at £280. Fair price?

Stunning Fernandes. Bit too much for my pocket at the moment though.

£280 is tongue-swallowingly mental for that, pretty or otherwise. They don't come up too often but when they do they tend to be well under £200 - essentially Ibanez Blazer or Westy Thunder money. After all, it's really just a Precision copy with a skinny top horn!

Tasty! It's like they put the wood on back to front, all that sexy quilting is on the back!

I want that so much it hurts. Worst GAS I've had since coming back to BC - I'll have to drop him a note & see if he'll post it!

Anyway - decent project JapCrap Jazz for £45 BIN:

He reckons it's a Grant, might be, but more likely a Columbus.

I'm tempted in a big way, especially as he's not far up the road from me. Let me know if he says no to posting because I think I'll take a punt.

He won't post it I've already asked......

Consider punt made then in that case!
