It certainly isn't. It's Korean-made, probably originally sold as Satellite, very heavy, solid but not particularly good quality.

I really hope no-one pays £150+ for this - I sold one of these a few weeks ago for £58, which was a good few quid less than I paid for it when I bought it here!

That Washboard Vulture's lovely -I won't be bidding, but I asked the geezer what his reserve is.

Resesve on the Washburn's £275. I'm out, then.

Yep - that's her alright. Does she still shave "down there" with that industrial sander? At least, I think she was shaving with it... Oh, and if you ever find out what the 3rd nipple does, could you let me know?

"Down there's" healed over.
3rd nipple is a "Youv'e got an extra tenner in your pocket, and it's mine" detector. :)

I'll get me coat then study how to get back to plot.

That used to belong to me. I've just sent the seller this:

"I'm almost certain that this was my bass - I sold it to silverfoxnik on basschat. The instrument dates from 1984, I bought it in 1986. The shop it came from was Northern Sounds in Workington. Whatever that mark is, it isn't a burn from a soldering iron. I don't recall how it got there, it happened some time in the 20 years or so that I owned it but I don't remember how."

How's the price on this?

I'm going to be keeping an eye on it but don't want to pay over the odds.

I wouldn't claim to know. But, I'll take a guess. It's not original, but apart from the modifications is in good nick and it has a hard case. It seems that classic fretless basses sell for less than the fretted version. So my wild guess for the ending price will be £180 + the p&p.

We'll see how accurate my guess is. Mostly my guesses tend to be on the low side. Not always though.

Maya Precision bass

The seller says "You'd be pretty lucky to find another Maya bass to buy". That's hyperbole, but at least the bass has a low starting bid, so the market will work out the price. Unlike (6 string alert) the guy selling an "old, pre-Ibanez, CSL" LP with a £600 starting bid.

I love the way the [s]tosser[/s] guy flogging the CSL crows about how he got it from a car boot for a tenner! That's really going to make punters want to hand him his £590 profit for not even bothering to research the bloody thing properly! :) Realistically though that's a £300 guitar - he'll get bored repeatedly re-listing it when it doesn't sell at that stupid price.

Nice looking Maya and a sensible start price too. It's academic whether or not I could find another to buy because I've got one in the lab, admittedly somewhat lower-end, with a well-dodgy refret job and in serious need of a bit of sorting out.

Are Columbus any good? There's a do-er-up-er on at the mo currently showing a £30 bid.

Not great but not awful. Plywood bodies but everything else is pretty decent, mine had a nice neck but maybe a bit chunky for a Jazz.

It'll probably go a bit higher than 30 quid though!

There's another one being discussed here! :)
