Bassless.

Coming off bass even for a day is an awful thing.
you could try a substitute like a guitar, or perhaps a banjo-but you will notice there a huge difference-its just not as fun.
The problem of course with these substitutes is you´ll find yourself picking them up 2,3 or even four times as often as a bass, just to get the same thrill you would normally get from a bass, and this can be very dangerous indeed.
:)

Methadone!!!! - great for withdrawal symptoms , maybe not so much of a rumble, but very mellow - but if you want that real rumble-y feeling, without the mellowness - I would suggest salmonella

Noooooooooo!!! ......a guitar would never be a substitute - I would rather have a piece of wood with 4 bits of string held in place with drawing pins - at leat it would allow fretting and plucking practice

If the only other choice was a guitar........well filing my fingers down to the bone with a cheese grater and dipping the resultant stubs in a bowl of salt, sound remarkably pleasurable

Thinking along the right lines there - but a HARLEY? :)

Mind you the're great if you want to spend 95% of your time cleaning or sitting by the road waiting for the breakdown truck after the latest bit's shaken loose and fallen off

:) My bikes do'nt break down,i do'nt fanny about with them like the HOGgies do.
I've just had a think about this.........since 1978 i've only broken down on a bike 3 times
1 - fried coil - Suzuki T500
2 - puncture - Honda CB400N
3 - chain snapped - Suzuki GN400

so i must either be lucky,good mechanic,or due a breakdown ?
Anybody want to buy a Harley ? Edited by hillbilly deluxe

I don't know what I'd do with myself in your situation.

Sometimes, when I'm away from home for more than a couple of days I like to take a ukulele with me. It's... not really the same, but it's got four strings. Anything to curb the cold sweats.

Anything more than a week and I'll be huddled in a corner fretting the bassline to Mustang Sally in the air, sobbing quietly.
