police squad Posted yesterday at 13:58 Posted yesterday at 13:58 I thought here would be a good place to start In my tribute bands I have a few notes to check arrangements etc as we do live versions of some songs that are very different. I usually make notes on A4 paper but I've bought a larger tablet to do this What are my options here I was going to photograph them and arrange them in folders Should I scan them and load them on. Can I view pdf files on my tablet I would also like to turn the page occasionally on the longer notes Quote
tauzero Posted yesterday at 14:13 Posted yesterday at 14:13 You can view PDF files on your tablet, just get Adobe Acrobat reader. I used PDF files on my tablet for similar purposes. I transfer them using Dropbox - I'm too cheap to pay for Dropbox so I have to access it via a browser on the tablet, but I just create them in Dropbox on my PC or laptop and then download them onto the tablet so I don't have to rely on an internet connection to see them. Another reason for using PDF files is so I can use a page turner - more for songs where I'm singing so I've got the lyrics too and it goes past a page. I use a Lekato page turner (can't remember whether I set it to portrait or landscape) and set the PDF viewer to single page mode rather than continuous. 1 Quote

Simple enough. 1 Quote

Cato Posted yesterday at 14:27 Posted yesterday at 14:27 (edited) The simplest way would probably be to take pics of the notes with the tablet. They should automatically be put into the tablet's gallery, where you can just swipe through them. If you wanted to store other pics on the tablet you could move the music notes into their own album. Honestly I don't know. But I just had a look a page turner pedal on Amazon and the the description says that 'swipe' is one of the functions, so it looks promising. Perhaps someone who owns one could confirm? 1 Quote
itu Posted yesterday at 15:00 Posted yesterday at 15:00 If you want a very good SW to read music from different formats, I suggest you to buy the Mobile Sheets Pro. There's no monthly fee, just pay once. Very functional. If you need (I do) a page turner, check Pageflip Dragonfly. It is small, very quiet (studio use), simple to use, and batteries last really long time. There's a 4 button version available, too, but I found no use to those two extra buttons. I use these with my Android tablet. I have +3000 scores there. Setlists are easy to do, and you can import a few formats to the SW. If you have books in PDF format, you can make sidecars to index big books to individual notes. No more papers! 1 Quote
fretmeister Posted yesterday at 15:00 Posted yesterday at 15:00 I use Forescore (ipad) and a cheap Donner bluetooth footswitch page turner. I'm assuming Forescore has versions for non Apple kit. It takes pdf and other formats. It's very clever in that with a foot press it will turn pages, but if the tablet is in landscape for a bigger image it will will first move to the bottom of the page and then flip the page. Very pleased with it. 1 Quote
itu Posted yesterday at 15:01 Posted yesterday at 15:01 Oh yes, download some scanning SW (app) to scan notes from books. A very useful extra. 1 Quote

I'm not on it now and can't remember how it does it. (Edit*) I'm using MobileSheets that backs up to onedrive and my phone and tablet are synced. If the tablet dies I can still use the phone in an emergency. Albeit a very limited tiny screen. *Google: https://share.google/aimode/jHPiSmJJIoZhkflmZ Edited 1 hour ago by TimR Quote
