NigeJ Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Got an audition for a new band tonight... About 70% certain on the ten songs I was given to learn. To be honest, I'm not nervous at all. At nearly 61, if it doesn't work out I'll not be peeved. Not a huge shift in style from my last band. More modern metal then old school death metal which the last lot did. Looking forward to be back playing more than anything 😁 5 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Ten songs for an audition is a bit much when they may be seeing several candidates. 6 songs is plenty for both parties to see if it’s a good fit Different if you already know many of the songs but asking for 10 songs only to be told no is a bit unfair. I’m sure that won’t happen and you will get the role 👍 1 Quote

Cliff Edge Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Maybe it’s “ play 2 or 3 out of this list”. ?? 2 Quote
Steve Browning Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago If I was auditioning, it would be 3 songs and that's it. If the decision was a yes straight away then I might 'jam' the other 7 but that's a ridiculous ask for an auditionee. 2 Quote
cetera Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago Good luck Nige! Remember, you're auditioning them too....! 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago I’m not so sure, last audition I had was told of 3 songs off the bands album. Got to the audition, they asked me where I wanted to start and my reply was let’s do the album start to finish. My thoughts are it doesn’t hurt to learn a good few songs even if I don’t get the job, as surely I must like those songs in order to be auditioning for a band that plays them. I did get the job btw. 1 Quote

Ahh, but showing you're keen and going for extra credit isn't the same thing as being given 10 songs to learn straight off the bat for an audition... 1 Quote
