There are certain phrases that keep popping up.

1. Designed for right handed players
2. Smooth and comfortable playing experience
3. The Fender Precision Bass model,
4. Features 20 frets
5. Ideal for both beginners and experienced

In fact the whole passage is 'AI' boilerplate, but it starts with "Designed for right handed players".

 

It doesn't feel right but I can't put my finger on why it doesn't feel right. The Fender plate on the back of the neck looks like the serial number was engraved on and I thought they were stamped? The serial number doesn't match on the database (though that's not that unusual). The wear looks like someone with sandpaper and the wood looks odd underneath. The lollipops look too new.

I think the grifter seller's trying to say they've stuck a set of Seymour Duncans in it - although the other interpretation does sound like prime Ebay AI bullsh!t!

 

If so I suppose that might raise their total outlay on this mess to about £200. Excluding the power consumed by running a belt sander for 10 minutes.

Looks like a particularly grotty Squier affinity to me. The fake serial number + 'made in USA' decal is clearly intended to deceive. Where has ebay hidded the 'report' button?

I read the text and thought that the seller had added a sentence in front of a standard AI word dump. One step up from accepting the AI word dump without any proof reading.

There's a question mark icon on the listing page (in line with the price in my phone's browser) which takes you to the 'report' form.

 

The item didn't sell... so has been relisted with a more 'human' description at a higher starting price.

There used to be an easy way to report fake items or obviously fake listings. eBay seems to have removed all the easy ways to do this.

Can't see any way to report this as fake on a web browser on PC, either Firefox or Chrome - no question mark on the screen. I have reported it via the Ebay app though (top right three dots, "Help & Report").

 

Not only has it got a higher price, it's even got a reserve on it.

Same here, so despite their policy saying that counterfeits are not acceptable, "We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy.  This determination was made by a customer service agent."

 

Doesn't matter to me as I'll never be in the market for a Fender, but anyone who is should avoid Ebay.

 

Also, perhaps some public-spirited BC experts could write a treatise on determining whether a Fender-labelled FSO is real or a fake, and that could then be pinned in (perhaps) the Gear | Bass Guitars section.

There are two people bidding for this. I'd bet your kidney that at least one is the a friend of the seller pushing the price up, possibly both. I'd keep as far away from this as possible.
