Re OP question. I say yes, if you fancy one. You can always sell/trade it if it doesn't work out. I currently have three and love 'em all.

What's feeding this line of thought? I played a £5000 Olinto Precision at Andy Baxter's the other day. Obviously I'm not going to pour that kind of money into one, but maybe another 1st/2nd gen American Professional may be on the cards..?

No-one has ever told me to play a precision.

 

I wanted one for decades, as I learned the basics on one. I finally got a precision and the penny dropped that my fretless that I've had since the late 80s is one.

I’ve owned and played all the flavours. Owned a couple of interesting but unsatisfactory Ps (bitsa warmoth and a De Gier Soulmate) which never took.
 

Currently playing one MIJ 70s style P and I have to say it’s GREAT.
