Geek99 Posted yesterday at 09:24 Posted yesterday at 09:24 (edited) The battery went flat (my fault) and I wanted to check active mode worked after putting new batteries in I knew that the passive mode does a fairly good jazz bass sound but switching to active with it’s totally separate tone control (para mid eq plus treble plus bass) you can get a fairly good p bass tone. the levels are about the same, so I can switch the two sounds instantly using the active switch and it’s a 5 Edited yesterday at 12:12 by Geek99 3 Quote

ghostwheel Posted yesterday at 11:47 Posted yesterday at 11:47 A rationalist is a person or philosopher who believes that reason is the primary source of knowledge and the best test for truth, rather than emotion or sensory experience. Quote
Geek99 Posted yesterday at 12:17 Author Posted yesterday at 12:17 If @ghostwheel you had experienced my moment of joy at the discovery of two iconic bass sounds in one nice instrument you would not call me a rationalist These are my settings, switch set to passive, three knobs to right are the active control (my p bass approximation) hope this helps someone two knobs to left are jazz bass approximation (tone is stacked on volume) 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted yesterday at 12:28 Posted yesterday at 12:28 Sounds ideal as an all in one bass. Just need another one as backup…… But seriously it sounds great, ideal for a covers band and for studio work having both sounds at your fingertips. 1 1 Quote
ProjeKtWEREWOLF Posted yesterday at 16:07 Posted yesterday at 16:07 (edited) Does anyone have experience of the 5 string version? I have a v5 4 string, and love it, but I need another 5! Edited yesterday at 16:07 by ProjeKtWEREWOLF 1 Quote

A bit warmer and mid focused than typical jazz? Quote
Geek99 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago My rule of thumb is John mcvie in the chain Quote

Geek99 Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago It is, but what I found was that I could flit between the two without fiddling around. A jazz style bass can get close with bass / para mid/treble Quote
lemmywinks Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago A Sire V7 is still the best value gigging bass out there IMO, very versatile instruments. Good low B on the 5 strings as well. 4 Quote

I had the V7 and the old V9. Excellent, excellent basses. I preferred the V7 with the maple board over the V9 with ebony. The V7 was really good for having a 'controlled' sound when your dynamics change... I mean, if you pop the string you got a good sound that didn't give a massive volume spike. Such good basses, I'd take another one any time. 1 Quote
dave_bass5 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Once I got the passive and active tones at the same volume on my V7 5 I don think I bothered with active most of the time. Edited 5 hours ago by dave_bass5 Quote
