Russ Posted yesterday at 15:15 Posted yesterday at 15:15 I'm going to audition one. Sweetwater got them back in stock, so I snagged one. If I like it, I keep it and sell some other stuff, if I don't, I send it back. Does it have instructions about how to do neural captures? Quote

I thought you could just connect up, say, a pedal to a send, then the output of the pedal to a return, and capture it that way, all directly on the Anagram itself. Here's a question... if you set up a patch with an amp and IR, is it possible to route a signal with them to the XLR out, and a signal without them to the 1/4" output jack, so you can go into an amp without the amp emulation? Tripehound Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Is the Anagram a better option than a used Quad Cortex which is perhaps 2 to 300 quid more? Quote

Im pretty new to the QC and im blown away at what it will do. Lots of compliments from sound techs and crowd about the sound too. Id like to try the Anagram but think its a year or 2 away from being a real competitor to the QC 2 Quote

At this stage I think its just down to if the Anagram has the features you need right now. Its far too early to see what their feature release cadence will be or where the platform will be a year from now. If you're ok with the footprint of the QC, its a pretty mature ecosystem which already does a lot. The capture collection is vast too, I found everything I was looking for, even less common stuff. I'm intrigued by the Anagram but not really interested in any of the stock preamps/drives and most of the stuff I’d want is absent from the NAM captures. If the capture process was a bit more refined and they had a better variety of non-darkglass stuff covered out of the box itd be a far more tempting proposition for me personally. 3 Quote

The benefit is that NAM is currently the most accurate way of capturing amps so you loose the ability to do it in the unit like the QC but if they are done well you should get more accurate amp tones. and yes you can route amp/cables signal to either the other xlr or a 1/4” inch out. It’s certainly subjective but I had QC, stomp and anagram and went with anagram. Easier for me to dial in tones, everything is set up for bass which does make things easier and I’m getting a better sound out of it for me. I also think at the rate they are updating it (MIDI next) we won’t actually be waiting years like we did with QC. QC does have the plug ins though but apart from parallax there may not be loads of bass specific stuff. Anagram is also encouraging plug in companies to put their stuff onto it due to the way it’s been made (not like QC who have to do it all themselves). Having said all that it’s great as it is and it’s what i use for every gig now with no amp. 1 Quote
krispn Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Anagram is super easy to get into and can be edited really quickly over the HX but I’ve no experience of the QC. Anagram is really handy and ‘on the go’ friendly. 1 Quote
JohnR Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Hmm. It's not going well with my GuitarGuitar order. Two days after placing the order for next day delivery and it's still showing as 'pending' on their website. It feels like I've been the victim of sharp practice. I've messaged them asking for an update so let's see what they say. Edited 5 hours ago by JohnR Typo 1 Quote
JohnR Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago They replied saying it will be delivered today despite the ‘processing’ status and absence of shipping notification. Watch this space. 2 Quote
JohnR Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It arrived. Still showing on GuitarGuitar as processing, no despatch email and no tracking email but it's here. 2 Quote

Not a fair comparison once you get a few anagrams int he second hand market it’ll be a £500 difference. Its basically a £700 new difference and really you have to upgrade the power supply to a Cioks DC7 or you get the grounding issues I had which made me send my QC back in a few days. If you can stand the footprint and you have some amazing pedals that you just have to capture without a computer involved then sure. But you can do the capture process using the Anagram you just need a computer attached. My final point on this is, capturing is really overrated, you’ll do it a bit and then you’ll realise most of it is already available for you in the cloud, or you just did it a few times several months ago. 1 hour ago, JohnR said: It arrived. I’m annoyed now I preordered mine the other week and don’t have it, don’t even have a shipping notification. 1 Quote
