A mate is going to an immersive saxophone weekend in Birmingham with a load of other sax players. Wondering if there's something similar for Bass - or perhaps a Bass Bash in or near Lincolnshire?

There's a growing music scene in Louth - a beautiful bustling market town worth a weekend visit in it's own right - with two independent clubs, jazz and blues respectively, with musicians from surrounding towns and cities playing gigs, jam nights and open mics in local venues.

Even better, Cadwell Park is just up the road.

Couple of great live music pubs in Louth - The kings head and Cobbles Bar! Plus the various blues and jazz clubs........ Have played in Louth for the last 30 years in various bands and always had a great time! Would love to be involved in a bass bash somewhere near.......😉🤞

If there isn't, organise one. It's really only a matter of saying who's interested in a Bash in or near Lincolnshire? and seeing how many people are. If there is enough interest then hire a hall or space. There are plenty of Bass Bash organisers who will help you out with organisation, basically you need a hall and enough people at £10 a head to cover the hire of the hall.

Hey Mike, how are you up for being one of the team organising this? You know Louth and are familiar with getting here and the general area, hopefully!

We don't know eachother (yet) but that could work in our favour as we probably know different sets of bass players. What do you think?

Perhaps 3 or more of us organising aiming car/van load each?

Maybe Jan/Feb?

Anyone else interested?

I can organise a variety of amps and cabs on site. Will sound out the general bass bash tips.

As a local start I can think of 10 or so in Louth and guess half would come along, maybe more with enough notice and cajoling 😉 (we're a shy lot 'round here).

Hi kiat, more than happy to give advice but not really any need for me to travel to Bass Bashes out of area because a) one a year is enough and b) people tell me that I have the best in the country on my doorstep. (Sorry if that sounds immodest, it's not meant to 🙂).

My best suggestion would be for you to come along to ours. That will tell you all you need to know. Otherwise, just jump on at the bottom of the learning curve in the way you've already suggested. I'd say you need between 10 and 20 attendees bringing lots of gear to qualify as an 'event' rather than just a few mates getting together for a chat. However, you may need to start small before you can get bigger. From memory though, our first Bash in 2017 was very well attended and that's been the case ever since except for the pandemic year. We've found that presentations like our amp and cab shoot-outs and diy cab-build workshops have generated a lot of interest but you need people who have the knowledge and know how to present it. The other big seller for ours is all-day catering laid on by Mrs. Scrumpy and the Scrumpettes. That part of it is damned hard work by an excellent cook for a couple of days though.
