So the £130 pedal becomes £180 if it's preloaded with presets that I presume you could add to the £130 one? Have I got that right?

Even owners of the full fat TONEX have to buy the bass pack separately for €99.99 - it’s not a free update for anyone I don’t think

Sorry - even owners of the full fat TONEX have to buy the bass pack separately for €99.99 if they want it. I wasn’t implying that owners of the Tonex have to buy the bass pack or their unit self destructs. Crikey 🥸🙃

Then we agree. My point is why is it such a big deal that a company charges for an add on? Why would anyone expect it for free, or get upset that its not?

Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to keep the amp/cab on and turn effects on and off? Would i still need soemthing like the Pirate box even with the larger Tonex, or can i hook it up directly?

The full size one has midi program change and parameter changing and a full size midi socket.

Yeah, but can it work over USB with the ability to turn on/off the FX?

It seems to say that USB is purely for audio in/out.

Ah thanks. That puts it in to the same category as the One then. Sorry, one more question. Is it possible to turn, say modulation on and off, or would it be a case of jumping between two patches, one with and one without?

Can't bring myself to buy the new ToneX one Bass as don't really need it but it's actually painful how interested I am in them... anyone pulled the trigger yet?

No but the ToneX One midi interface turned up today, so I am going to have a play with that

Is that the pirate thing based around the opensourced software?

be very interested in your thoughts on that,.

Also I just checked on what differences there are between the Tonex Bass Pedal and the normal Tonex pedal.

There are no differences apart from the bass pedal packages are pre-installed and cosmetically different. You can install the bass pack on a normal Tonex pedal.

Yeah, they sell the bass pack separately so it can be loaded on any of the existing devices.

Well I had a few minutes with it yesterday, off the pedalboard. Small box, usb lead between it and the ToneX and a guitar power plug on the box, you can connect by wired or bluetooth midi, but if you are near a computer or phone, you can just connect to its wifi (within 60 seconds of turning it on) and it gives you a set of webpages where you can change all the settings of the device itself. It lets you adjust the Gate / Compression / Speaker type / Modulation / Echo / EQ of the patch, or the amp values. Seems the amp models are those built into the presets already, and you can change between those presets, but not specifically between the models themselves, so I suspect the way you would use them is set up the models you want in the ToneX app, and then either use the midi interface to change between the presets or to switch on and off modulation, change drive levels etc.

Certainly makes the ToneX One a lot more useful - I couldn't use it before as I use more than 2 sounds, but this expands that drastically.

Unfortunately I lost my battle with GAS and mr DPD delivered the ToneX one bass edition on Saturday...  Set up was every bit as convoluted as people say and I'm still finding my way around the software now but there are some great things in there!

The software has got better as well :)

I'd be very interested in your views on the bass systems in there. I suspect others would as well

I did a small gig on Sat with just my GP-5. AMPEG Nam and footswtich turning on and off a Drive FX. I didnt even use the Chocolate foot switch as I didn't feel I needed any other FX.  So impressed I can see me sticking with that for a while. Famous last words I know.

Software is awful - packaging says it comes with ToneX SE but it actually comes with ToneX CS which is an inferior product and limits what can be downloaded from Tonenet.  The standard ToneX one comes with ToneX SE.  I'd have sent it back for this alone if my youngest hadn't damaged the packaging.

Some of the captures are great - for what I do the clean mix is a godsend as I'm not a fan of Cab IRs without a blend.  There's a night and day feel difference between this and standard modellers though. I saw great reviews about the SVT models but it's the Aguilar and GK Fusion models that have impressed me.  Some of the stompbox drive options are good too.

Hope this helps... any more info needed let me know!

Update: Mine has come off my board and may end up on the F/S section (Little one got hold of the registration card and decided it'd look better creased and torn so can't send it back under 30 days anymore)...

Honestly a great sounding pedal and I'd recommend to anyone after an amp sim. My only issue is my band runs everything through an RCF Evox 12 system with no backline. The details of the amp sims are completely lost on it as it's not the best PA; so I may as well stick with my old school Tone Hammer V1

I have a long history of buying multi FX things and not using them because the editing options just make my head spin. So then I sell them. When I got the Tonex some time ago I messed with the editor and it was not intuitive for me and it went into a drawer. I messed with it again last night. There has been an editor update in the meantime and it is doing exactly what I hoped it would in a way that was really easy. Thank you Tonex bods.

Ooh thanks for the headsup, I will have a look!
