ambient Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) Iām a longtime admirer of Andrewās playing. Here, heās taking Chaka Khanās two hits to another level completely. Ā I guess heās able to do this because: Ā a) he has total mastery of his instrument and tremendous chops. Ā andĀ Ā b) heās so familiar and at ease with the harmony in the two songs. Ā I have to learn these two songs for a new band Iām playing for. I play a 6 string bass, Iām definitely watching these for inspiration. Ā He detunes his bass by a tone by the way. Ā I have a transcription of these two tunes from a Chaka Khan concert. Ā Ā Ā Edited August 2, 2023 by ambient 4 1 Quote

fretmeister Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 He's a fantastic player. I bought the AG1000 signature amp because I do love his sound. Ā I have to say though - his solo stuff is a bit pants compared to the legendary tunes like CK's one in the vid. I was a bit disappointed in his solo album. Fine playing - just in desperate need of a tune.Ā 1 Quote

fretmeister Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 It's a cracking amp. I'm very pleased with it. Ā The dynamic range is massive. Really responsive. As I swap a lot between fingers, slap, and pick I always use a compressor just to sort that out a bit. Otherwise that little slap lick in the middle of a fingerstyle tune has a habit of waking the dead. 1 Quote

It sounded great except on the really low notes on the B string, and I'm listening through decent headphones so it shouldn't be an issue.Ā 1 Quote
