New section for PA kit & usage?

Recommended Posts

Given how often the bass player ends up being the PA guy / sound engineer for the band, and how many topics on Basschat stray into or through PA territory, how about a section just for PA-related topics?

For example, I'm interested in finding out more about mixing desks controlled remotely by tablets. I'm sure there are plenty of Basschatters who know about this stuff and have practical experience of using it, but do I post in General Discussion or Off Topic or Amps & Cabs or Other Equipment?

I put my 02R (and other mixers that I love, hate and indifferent to) saga into Accessories & Misc section too..

I think this would fit very well in a 'Playing Live' section, which would cover PA reviews, setup tips, IEMs vs monitors etc plus other recommendations for gigs: how to ensure you get paid, should you lend kit, safe power setup at pubs and so forth...

I'm probably 'dumber than the average bass player Boo Boo" but i wouldn't have thought of looking in Accessories and Misc for PA info. I like the idea of a Playing live section as mentioned above though...

I've just posted a new PA-related thread in (as suggested) Accessories & Misc and I have to say it feels even stranger than last time.

Ric/Ped - I do think this idea has some logic to it, y'know.

Another request for a dedicated PA/Live music thread from me. For anyone in a gigging band there are all sorts of experiences you want to share and practical problems that you need some help to solve. Having a home would be great.

Sounds like a plan. It would pick up some traffic form the Amps & Cabs section, where people are sometimes posting about going direct, with no dedicated bass amp or cab.

I'm trying, I'm trying... but I'm a fatty that loves biscuits and donuts. No need to keep going on about it! 😛

It is, but I'm currently a size 6 and feel like a right monster.
