tom1946 Posted November 3, 2017 Share Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) Hi folks, here is my beautiful Sunset Orange P bass for sale, almost immaculate but for a cymbal nibble on the headstock. I bought it from Karlfer of this parish and he said there were some small marks here and there but I can't find any, maybe my eyesight is going. It looks stunning to me with its maple board and it plays really really well but I'm struggling again with my back so although I love using it I'm waking at 2 in the morning with bad backache after playing so this and some others are having to go I don't know at this moment whether to quit altogether 'cos I'm fed up with the pain and hassle. I fitted a yellowy pearl pickguard to it and the buyer can have that or the original white one. There is no case with it, just a gigbag. It weighs 9.1 lbs, and has the S1 switch too. Price is posted. But before you think of giving up altogether, have you considered playing smaller, more lightweight basses? Perhaps a nice short scale might even be a good idea? Have you tried a Kala UkeBass? Worth considering these things anyway I'd hate to give up playing now! tom1946 Posted November 3, 2017 Author Share Posted November 3, 2017 I've tried short scale Marc and the notes aren't where I put my fingers I'm looking at a Cort GB74 which weighs 7.7 lbs but it's an unknown quantity. Papalampraina Posted November 3, 2017 Share Posted November 3, 2017 Hey Tom, that's a beautiful bass you are selling, but before you sell it, why don't you take it to a good luthier and make it hollow? [/quote] I have the same problem Tom - and I'm swapping between DB 34" scale, 23" scale, and I have a 30" short scale! I do struggle when I swap to the 30" - but I almost don't notice the difference when playing the 32" medium scale I'm sure it's all just a question of practice, and persistence. If you played only 30" scale - you'd get used to it eventually Papalampraina above, suggests taking your bass to a good luthier to make the body hollow, or at least chambered Indeed Maruszyk (sorry, I never can spell it correctly) also make some basses as chambered body versions Although I've not played one of these, I've seen people discussing their weight, and they do seem very lightweight It would be a shame to carve up this wonderful bass, and that other lovely P bass you're selling Perhaps you could email Adrian, to get a lightweight bass custom made for you? EDIT: I don't know the exact weight of that 32" Japan Squier P of mine, but as the body is proportionally smaller than a standard P bass, it really is very light in comparison to my other basses. FinnDave Posted November 3, 2017 Share Posted November 3, 2017 That's a lovely looking Precision. Unfortunately, I'm not in the market right now as I bought two Precisions in the last fortnight! Regarding the weight issue, I can recommend the Gibson EB4 as being a very light 34" scale bass - I can weigh mine if you're interested in them in general. I have a Yamaha BX1 version and its very lightweight. Not sure as i've never tried one but what about the carbon graphite type basses, are they much lighter than standard basses. ThorOdinSon7 Posted November 3, 2017 Share Posted November 3, 2017 I love this bass and will look at finances I'm just back from the osteopath i had painful headaches couldn't look down couldn't look up even thought it may have been a neck fracture (my wife suggested that) turns out it was my shoulder.
