This PAT testing comes up occasionally. Is correct that it only relates to employers and equipment used by their employees. There is no legal requirement. It seems that perhaps some venues are getting pushed by their insurance for it. Has anyone challenged it and done the gig anyway I wonder.

MU membership only covers the individual so everyone in the band would have to join.

We use AMPband and have for a number of years. £10m cover for around £69 and that covers a 5 piece band. £79 for up to 10.

If you decide to use them if you enter our referral number, 61244, we get a bung of some sort. ;)

Challenging the jobsworth who is asking for proof of it usually results in the band not playing the gig.
Far easier putting the stickers on the gear. It can cost as little as, ahem, nothing.

Problem with that is that you are making a false representation that they have been tested which, if anything bad happened as a result of one of those items, could rebound badly on you.
