Distortions

i found the odb-3 was a bag of poo, the only good tones i could get from it were slightly aggressive very low gain ones - which is usually how i set up my clean sound anyway so it was useless.

same with the people i've seen use it live, it's either been terrible or i've thought "you should set up your clean sound to how your odb-3 sounds and get a mega evil distortion"

oh well ey?

everyone's tastes are different i guess.
Yeh, my ODB-3 is Fizzy if I have the gain right up, or the mix right up, or the highs right up - but then it sounds sh*t so why would I do that? You can get some monstrous overdrive tones out of it.
The SansAmp Para Driver DI - monster OD when I'm not using it as a direct DI (which most of the time as there's a a tube in the ABM). The sweepable mid gets it right where you want it and the blend knob keeps the bottom end intact. Bloody expensive fuzz box though, even though I somehow avoided import duty. Shhh... :)

Edited for spelling!

I like to have lots of options. I suppose if you like to have 1 distortion pedal for all your settings, and you keep bending over to change the knobs, then the ODB-3 would be a bag of poo. I however, use it as a low gain agrressive overdrive with almost extreme levels of low end boost. I blend this with other distortions if I want more gain/fuzz.

I'm guessing you have a tube amp which you can set to overdrive? Not everyone can do this, and I certainly wouldn't want to.

in fact i have just got a brilliant distored sound out of using the odb-3, highs about 9 0 clock, badd at 12, gain at 11, going into my zoom b2.1u at a slight overdrive setting, with small boosts for mids and treble, sounds brilliant

Solid state all the way baby, pearce BC1 preamp.

i've just got an animato it's quite a sexy distortion, i'd read somewhere that it was sh*t and on other places that it was good - but i love the tone of it.

the tone knob NEEDS to be all the way to the left, otherwise you go into bass loss-playing through a radio-central.

Either way you still have a slightly overdriven sound all the time, which isn't very useful for some people. The ODB-3 does this sound really well for those who need to switch it on and off. That was my point.

Anyway - sweet, i've always wanted to try an animato! What would you compare it to? Maybe it'd sound better with a clean blend, so that you can play with the tone knob.

By far the best ever overdrive I've ever used

So glad I got 2 as these are getting rarer and rarer.

I use mine to boost into a fuzz as well as it makes it super fuzzy but loads of character and clarity.

i don't see the point of valve pedals they don't get to run on the full power needed so you dont get the full benefits really. i need to do clips of this big muff i've been modding into an overdrive sounds so much like om's overdriven tone

Cant believe that in a thread this long no one has mentioned the Lomenzo Hyperdrive! Irs a ridiculously superb pedal and there are so many different tones in there from just boosting the clean signal, overdriving nicely and full bore. I liked it so much I bought 2 to have one set as a cruncy boost and one for the OTT moments. I guess with them not being out too long not many people have had a chance to try yet. Best thing of all is that they are only £59 !!

Have a look;

;< to make it more pickleesque you just have to change a few capacitors to cut the mids to ;o
