k50 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Spector ns5xl neck-thru , 35" scale ,Pau Ferro finger board and solid quilted maple body . I bought this bass of here about a year ago and since then it's had a full recommissioning from Chris May at Overwater , so the bass is in superb condition apart from the few knocks its acquired during its gigging life . I had contemplated refinishing this instrument but its a genuine bass with a certain mojo ! Its fitted with the John East circuit with mid controls making it much more flexible than the standard pre amp . Comes with a generic flight case .Probably should have dusted the bass before i took the photos ! Not looking for trades .Reduced to £1450 ono plus delivery . Many thanks for looking . Henrythe8 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hi, could you give the width at nut and approx string spacing at bridge, please (big fingaz... ) Thanks.
Risk101 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hmmm very nice - quite tempting - how much does it weigh, and is that a satin finish?
k50 Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Its a satin finish and the weight is under 10 lb or 4.4 kg , which is pretty decent for a five string ! Edited November 7, 2016 by k50
sambucadan Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 My old bass! I can vouch for what a beauty this bass is and still wonder if I did the right thing selling it but I just wasn't using a 5er anymore!
k50 Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Bump , fantastic bass with super low buzz free action . Yes Sambucadan , a beauty of a bass and after the full works from Overwater it almost plays itself !
lee650 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I used to have an old Cr5FM euro version of this with an East pre and it was a fantastic bass! I bet this is even better!!! Bump for a bargain,if I had the cash (or if trades available) id be tempted by this.
k50 Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Open to light weight , high end amp head as partial trade .
snakebass Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Hi There. Is this Spector still for sale? I am in South East London, is this anywhere nearby? Let me know Cheers Mark
k50 Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 The bass is in Newcastle upon Tyne but shipping is not an issue as it comes with a semi flight case .
k50 Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) Up , possible trades for a high quality 5 string preferably over 34" scale . Edited December 14, 2016 by k50
Torbass Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 If only my 1990 Warwick Streamer stg II had 5 strings!
AlexiaSpring Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016
bump
Pm'd
k50 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Some further info from a previous owner , serious mojo ! ....wedding gigs ? It usually kicks off at weddings ! Hi Here's some info for you on #053. I used to own this a good few years back. I put the East pre-amp in it and it was a special version done for this bass. I can't remember the exact detail. I also put the black/gold knobs on - a special order from John East. The pickups I put in, if they haven't been swapped out, are P and J versions of the EMG soap bars. This makes it sound very different from the stock pups. Some of the mojo on the body is there as this bass was used to defend myself from an assailant with a pool cue during a gig, fortunately a Spector is a better weapon than a pool cue and the idiot was quickly dispatched backwards down a short flight of stairs leading to the stage. This was my main gigging bass for around two years and probably got gigged 50-60 times by me doing wedding band duties. Great to see it in such great condition. It's a gem that I sold to raise cash at the time. Good luck with the sale. All the best Sean
Paulhauser Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 This is so tempting, if I had not already have 4 Spectors I d be all over it. I've done the PJ pickup swap myself and they sound badass!
Risk101 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Indeed!! When you contemplated a refinish, did you get any indicative pricing?? Cheers
TheGreek Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 As a recent member of the Spector Owners Fraternity just let me say.... WOW!!!
k50 Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Not yet , but there's a very good local to me guy . Either that or Overwater .
tertiumquid Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Do you include the original parts too? Cheers Leon.

BaconCheese Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 I bought one of these years ago. An absolute beast, cuts through any mix, very responsive. Could not handle the 35", though.
KUSKU Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Congratulations to the new owner he has taken a great bass without a doubt.
