It's not often we get to talk about a brand new Status model, and rumours of this one have been circulating for a few months while the two prototypes toured with Level 42. Here're a couple of the official pictures from the website. More pics and full info on the "Get your STATUS-GRAPHITE basses out!" thread in the Gear Porn section.

It won't matter to some, if MK has one, they have to one. Nonetheless, I wonder if it sounds greatly different to the original KB.

Well thats a bit disappointing. The outline around the bridge looks a little odd if that is indeed the case.
It's just starting to look like the original Alembic MK Signature bass now, which looked like the Jaydee Supernatural....
Hehe, wasn't the original Jaydee designed to look like an Alembic? :) I agree about the body shape but I personally prefer wide bodied basses. Small bodied basses feel too cramped.

Actually, the very first Jaydee bass was designed by a bassist called Richard Ford (who must have been an Alembic fan!), who played in a Birmingham band called `Muscles'....the story goes that John Diggins had not seen any Alembic basses up till then (1977/78) and subsequently changed the Supernatural design so that it was not a direct copy!

Nice one Rich,

Level 42 Live.

I was in Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last night approx 3 feet from MK himself using that bass!

Kracking show, Everyone left there seats and stood in the front row for the whole show?

You leave feeling a little sick, Amazing.

Cheers

Justin.
Whats with the weird cutout in the headstock behind the nut? - is it similar to where 70s P basses that always seemed to have a lit fag stuffed under the E string - 'for later', but MK prefers a sausage roll instead?
I tip my hat to you sir :)

MK really is the gear whore's gear whore isn't he?
LOL! It's a headed version of the bendwell. Designed for vibrato effects. I do like the sausage roll suggestion, though!

... gotta be a post-gig Doner in naan bread - would slip in there quite nicely. In fact, I got hold of a Doner Card today, as I'd like someone to help themselves to my kebab after my death...!
