Long shot, but does anyone know of a DAW plug in that'll make and electric bass sound remotely like an upright?
My hands won't handle an upright due to tendonitis.

Why not use a keyboard and a VST. The one's in Logic for instance are very good. Just remember to think upright.

You don't have to be, that's the thing. Just tidy it up after you've recorded the parts. What DAW are using ?

Plenty of good (excellent) sample library patches out there, but if you don't fancy the keyboard route,
why not get yourself an Acoustic Fretless Bass Guitar?
Although to be honest, you can't beat the real thing (sound and feel wise)

Or use an Ashbory, upright sound and very tendonitis-friendly.

Forgot about those!

Yeah, not paying attention to my own posts 😊.

I tried one last year, it didn't quite work for what I wanted, which was piano and looping. It did work great though for more legato type stuff, such as synth pads and synth bass lines, so I imagine it should work great with upright bass sounds.

Yeah it's monophonic, as long as it tracks ok.

Got mine and it isn't very good with logic, going to return it.

In what way?
Curious, because one of my boys has been looking at this.
He can't seem to find much feedback.

At the moment I am exploring some solutions to this end, possibly leading to the 'Uprighter' pedal. To date I have sampled my various basses (fretted and fretless) and double bass. Fourier spectrum and envelope analysis points the way forward. I have also identified some problems that require further thought.

3below, I'd be interested to know the outcome of your experiments. I'm intrigued by the possibility of some sort of upright simulation using convolution reverb and impulse responses from an acoustic DB. I've seen various posts on the web in this vein but no mention of end results.
