i like to think my mind is open to everything, apart from 50's love songs and happy hardcore house/gabba, that sh*te can go away. but this stuff is so killer. I'm really researching different bands. these guys are good.

Ah, Disturbed. As far as I know I've never missed a tour.

They're as good, if not better live!

The singers side project are worth checking out too. They're called Device.
thanks i will check Device out Dave.

If you think Disturbed are a terrible band then you must not have a sense of hearing. Disturbed make metal fun. Try listening to their stuff without singing along! Not many metal bands can do that.

They might seem a bit pop-ish to metal fans that have extreme leanings, but for everyone else it's metal that's easy to listen to and easy to understand. They write great songs, have well produced material and are amazing live.

Right, seeing as this seems to be turning into a generic metal thread:

Anyone care to recommend me some metal? I absolutely love the Deftones and I really don't like cookie monster vocals. Those are your criteria. Go!

Grand Magus.

One of my favourite bands, metal or otherwise. Why they aren't as big as Maiden is beyond me.

The Sword. First two albums are excellent.

The Nickelback of metal.

This. Wasn't blown away by them live either - just standard what you'd expect stuff from that kind of pop-metal band.

@Uncle_Psychosis - glassjaw are great & similar to deftones.

Sadly one dimensional. I am a big fan and thought they would be the next big thing but never transcended, If you want weird try Babymetal. Probably the slickest metal band with young Japanese girls singing and dancing. Amazing and soul destroying at the same time.

Grand Magus are ace, I'm also recommend Cauldron, White Wizzard, Neonfly and Striker from Canada.

+1 about the Sword.

Laughed at the Nickleback of Metal comment though, thanks for making my dull day better guys.
