Mick Karn did play some stuff fro Kate Bush yes. Not sure about Gilmour playing fretless tho. My personal fave bass player of Kates is John Giblin, his fretless work is just sublime, a joy to (try and) play.

i think Eberhard Weber played on Hounds of Love as well... And Youth.

Her wikipedia profile also lists bass as one of her instruments.

If it's on Wikipedia it must be true.

Kate has used lots of bass players over the years (John Giblin, Del Palmer, Jimmy Bain, David Paton, Eberhard Weber & Danny Thompson to name a few), but as far as I'm aware the only time Gilmour has played bass with her was for her live appearance at one of the Secret Policemans Ball shows in the 80s.

She does compose on bass sometimes i know that much. She is a very talented pianist which is often overlooked.

Yeah, considering her piano skills and general musical talent I'd be surprised if she didn't play a bit of bass now and then.

I think it was just a prop for the picture. I'm sure she can knock out a tune on a bass (as she probably can on most things). It's easy to forget these days what an immense talent she is. Most young people these days probably haven't even heard of her. She doesn't court publicity though, she probably thinks she has climbed the mountain (and in a sense she has), so what else is there to do?
